Guy who fell short of Pete’s scoring record “cheated” by not getting to play in CBI again

Davis feels cheated
This one takes the cake. Guy who tried to break Pistol Pete’s record by compiling five years of stats feels “cheated” by his team being left out of crappy tournament it played in last season. Team’s record was 14-19.

Hes an idiot. Stop whining. Pete did it in 3 yrs. He's not remotely close to what Pistol did. And that was without a 3 pt line or shot clock.

He seems like a douche bag.

Why are you being so insecure about this nobody?
I don’t even know this guys name and don’t care what he thinks. Why do you?

Its disrespectful to be even mentioned in the same sentence as maravich.

Nobody will even remember him by the start of next season.

Guy played in something like 57 more games than Pete, had plenty of opportunities, non-starter.

I mean to be fair stupid questions are generally met with stupid answers, especially in a stupid article. Honestly kinda felt like Maravich’s kid is too angry and tuff, if there’s someone to poke at in this article as irrelevant, meaningless, egotistical, whatever else people are burying this kid as.

Nobody will break the magician record...

Time to move on from this guy. He's had his 15 minutes of fame. What he did was fine for 5 years but he's not even close to being in PP's category.

Honestly, the only thing that needs to be said is from Pete Maravich's son:
Jaeson Maravich said he did not have a personal problem with Davis, but he wasn't happy that his father's record had a chance to be broken in a lower-tier, pay-to-play college basketball postseason tournament.
"I think it's a terrible look," Jaeson Maravich told the AP. "Your season should be over if you're 14-19.

F him. He got to play 60 more games. Glad he fell short.

When every piece of evidence shows your "total" is based around the fact that you had many, many, many more opportunities (games, a shot that awarded you 1 more point, etc) than the guy whose total you are attempting to break.........you gotta be pretty unaware to say you felt "cheated" by not getting even MORE shot opportunities.

I didn't realize the kid was playing for his dad as well.
That is even more suspect. You let your kid average nearly 40 minutes a game for 5 straight seasons while never posting a winning season.
Funny other stat . . .seasons were shorter in the 60s by 3-4 games depending on the schedule.
I know we are beating a dead horse here but it is interesting to see just how much the game has changed over the years.

That's pretty hilarious, what a knucklehead. I'll go about five years without thinking about Pistol Pete as he played before my time. I'll usually forget about his level of shear dominance on the game, and it's easy to think that maybe all the legends of his play are exaggerated over the years like we sometimes do in sports....until you look at those stats. Goddamn they're just insane. In a time where offensive records in nearly every sport area easier and easier to break, his remains...and it remains as gaudy as ever. And this despite a multitude of changes to the game that have made it easier to amass points. Just astonishing really.

I’m glad that kid didn’t break it

What a loser. Not even an a significant accomplishment. Pete by 1,000 country miles. I’d love to see how many more Pete would’ve had with a 3 point line and playing 4 years. These entitled little LeBron wannabe bitches suck. Never heard MJ, Larry, Magic bitch - they were more concerned with winning games. If this arse clown is actually that good, his team would be playing in some post season tournament.

I’m glad this guy didn’t get the record.
I’m amused by LSU fans emailing the CBI, demanding they not extend his team an invite.

The CBI, which started Saturday, posted pictures on its Twitter account of Maravich and Davis shortly after Detroit Mercy lost at Youngstown State and had talks with the school about a potential invitation. Ultimately, the CBI decided not to give the Titans (14-19) an opportunity to pay $27,500 to play in the 16-team tournament. "We did receive unsolicited emails and voicemails about Detroit Mercy and some said we don't ever want Pete Maravich's record broken," said Rick Giles, president of the Gazelle Group that runs the CBI.
