Any Ideas on what happens to the Big12 and PacW?

We actually have a precedent to this…..The Big East. It tried to stay in survival mode after losing VT & Miami. The Big East is no more. And it seems the Big12 is imitating that by adding bad programs. But it is a survival grab.
For now you have this:
The obvious issues:
1. West Virginia is a sojourner that needs to find a local home. ACC seems perfect but the want is not reciprocated.
2. ND “has” a home in the ACC. Who knows what they will do. They have three options.
Stay indy, Big 10 or ACC.
3. Oregon and Washington seem to be the next to make a decision. They offer clout. Stanford could be the third but do they really care about football? I don’t know.
4. Colorado was on life support but Deion, I suppose, puts them back in sub-critical condition. They can still go 4-8 but still pull recruits for the next 4 years.
5. Utah and TCU are actual producers that survived their GO5 pasts. Interesting to see where they end up.
6. Baylor and OksT seem to produce but how do they factor?
7. KSU, TTU, OreSt, WSU all can produce but this looks like musical chairs for them.
Keep in mind. The ACC seems to be in a tight spot as well.
Here’s a blank.

Sec prob going to take Colorado eventually that seems obvious
But you add 2 teams at a time nowadays so maybe Utah and just kill the pac I suppose…

I feel like the Big 12 raids and gets a few schools like Colorado, Utah, Memphis, Boise etc. Don't feel like they're going down any time soon, they seem stable and are in the position to take a G5 school
The Pac-10 is just dead

They merge and start playing the sunbelt and acc.

When UT & OU leave, Big 12 going after AZ, ASU, CO, & UT

Just FYI the big East is still very much a thing in basketball…

PAC is definitely dead.
CU no idea what happens to them. Back to the b12 makes the most sense.
I am wondering about Kansas. They are AAU and maybe they are in the plans for either the Big10 or SEC next round? They are dumping money into modernizing their football stadium. If they stabilize as a .500 football team - they already make decent money off of basketball- would this make them attractive enough to the SEC?

They have been in the ACC for a decade now, as the old Domers die off it will become a formality

ACC was dead man walking before the first realignment. they are in the catbird seat now. Still don't get why most folks don't see this?
Best thing the PAC and B12 can do is pick the best 12 - 16 teams and ditch the rest. This will not happen as neither has leadership with half a brain.

The PAC-12 is dead. It’s not a matter of if but when. Their schools will eventually be absorbed by some combo of the Big 12, B1G and MWC over the next decade.

Then what is it?
Nevermind I see this is football specific.. So yeah you're right. BE was dead when it was a football conference

There is no fixing it unless it was rejiggered by a governing body.
There are reasonable geographic considerations that could be used to create 4 16-team super conferences, that maintain tradition and football culture. But that would require existing conferences and schools to relinquish autonomy for the greater good of the game. Not gonna happen.

It doesn’t matter “conference expansion” is just trimming of the fat. There will be a new top div of football consisting of about 30-50 teams. Hell if I wouldn’t be surprised if Rutgers northwestern and vandy eventually get the ax

The 12-team playoff might save them all. In fact, with 12 teams getting in it's going to bolster the best of the G5 as well. What's funny is when the Big 12 and Pac 12 start getting their conference champion in the 12 team dance more often than Oklahoma, the shorthorns, and USC. The truth is, with 12 teams, it's almost a guarantee.

Big 12 is going to get the four corner schools.
I still have to believe that at least Oregon and Washington, probably with Stanford, end up in the Big Ten.
Then the PAC leftovers will backfill with the best bits of the MWC.

The B1G will decide the fate of the PAC-12. Big 12 should go after Oregon, Washington, Colorado, and Arizona State or do nothing. PAC-12 needs a couple of schools, but there isn’t much out there. I think both conferences are better off staying with what they have.

I’ve been thinking about it…..
The merger wouldn’t be a bad conference.
The Merged Big12/PacW conference in two divisions
BigPacWest——-
Oregon
Washington
Stanford
Cal
Arizona
ASU
Wsu
OreSt
BigPacEast——-
Baylor
Tcu
OkState
Colorado
Utah
KSU
Kansas
Texas tech
Iowa State should go big10 and get rid of Rutgers.

i think in the end, B12 survives
not sure when it happens, but i think next round of playoffs, they put in must be in a conference and that leads to
Oregon, washington- will be big 10 first
ND joins with stanford later
big 12- take the 4 corner schools
Sec takes clemson, 2 NC schools, VT, virginia, fsu, maimi plus 1 other
end up with 3 24 team conferences. everything sucks dick like all this expansion does and eventually you see a break down back to 6 12 team conferences.

Who knows, but I think the SEC and Big 10 will have round two of expansion at some point in the future.
I got this impression after listening to Sankey on Finebaum last Friday. It'll probably involve plucking some teams from the ACC.
For example Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina to the SEC. Pitt, Syracuse, Notre Dame to the B1G. Or something like that.
There's no telling.

Houston, UCF, Cincinnati and BYU are not bad programs. What a dumb statement

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but the Pac is still a far superior conference to the Big 12. The Big 12 just happens to be the flavor of the month because they surprisingly survived when everyone thought they were dead. To me, a power conference should dominate its region. The entire Big 12, other than in Kansas, is nothing but 2nd or 3rd tier programs within each state who don’t dominate any media market. The Pac at least still has flagship programs like Washington, Oregon, Cal, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. It makes more sense for those programs to absorb a few Big 12 schools. The Big 12 has no backbone programs to hold it together long term. Its just a mid major conference with a power 5 name.
