With Texas and OU officially coming in 2024, the SEC appears ready to move to a division-less system with each school having three permanent rivals. Who do you prefer?
Here’s the best I could come up with:
1. Mizzou: Arkansas, Oklahoma, South Carolina
2. Arkansas: Mizzou, Texas, Oklahoma
3. Oklahoma: Texas, Mizzou, Arkansas
4. Texas: Oklahoma, A&M, Arkansas
5. A&M: LSU, Texas, Miss St
6. LSU: A&M, Ole Miss, Florida
7. Ole Miss: Miss St, LSU, Alabama
8. Miss St: Ole Miss, A&M, Auburn
9. Alabama: Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss
10. Auburn: Alabama, Georgia, Miss St
11. Vandy: South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee
12. Tennessee: Kentucky, Alabama, Vandy
13. Kentucky: Tennessee, Vandy, Florida
14. South Carolina: Vandy, Georgia, Mizzou
15. Georgia: Florida, Auburn, South Carolina
16. Florida: Georgia, LSU, Kentucky

Switch Ole Miss for MSU. Didn't really pay attention to the others.

Removing Miss State from Auburn. It should be Florida or even Tennessee over Miss St.

Agreed. First two are obvious. Third one is either State or LSU but State is right down the road and has been played yearly forever. LSU has been a good recent “rivalry” in large partly due to Saban but that will probably diminish some after the Saban era.

Would really like for A&M to have Arky as one of its permenant rivals as well. Easiest choice of the 3 you have listed for A&M is to swap out with Miss St, but not sure which of Arky's opponents you could swap. Arky, LSU, and Texas would be a nice slate of games for us.

The SEC and a lot of the coaches were pretty candidly discussing the three permanent rival system at the most recent SEC Media Days. Pittman said he preferred Texas, Oklahoma, and Mizzou, for instance.

I was trying to prevent any team from having three Big Six rivals to keep things as balanced as possible. I'm sure most schools would generally prefer only Big Six opponents, and then it flat out doesn't work.

UT gets two historically bottom feeders and 1 top feeder.

the SEC has made some dumb decisions lately, but this would take the cake. There's no way they do htis. That means that one of the Iron Bowl or TSIO is going bye-bye, as well as one of the WLOCP and the DSOR.
Every single thing the powers that be ahve done lately is baout money. Nothing else, money. Period. So why would the league decide to play 8 conference games and lose these major rivalries, opposed to getting to play 9 conference games and keeping them?

This is the ordinary for UT, who has benefited from playing two programs with all-time losing records in November for about a century now.
162 of Tennessee's 410 conference wins, or 39%, come against Kentucky and Vandy.

I think you answered your own question. The league doesn't give a flying frick what the fans want. The want to maximize revenue and nothing more. Whatever ESPN says will go.
It's a crying shame too.

Why should a 16 team conference with multiple power houses turn itself into a pretzel over 2 football games?
