It's a lot of folks on here that will be eating crow this coming season.

Steele will bring back physicality to this defense.

I bet money he will be BETTER than Golding period.

Anyone know how Steele is with a chalkboard/whiteboard? Maybe the thought was to hire Pruitt which fell through. Then, the decision was to simplify the defense and let the athletes play. Steele has the knowledge, and familiarity with the defense. Let’s keep it simple and let them play. Can’t help but think Pruitt will be back at some point later this year after the NCAA does their thing.

Not the best hire, but I think we can all agree Steele better than Grantham.

I think this is just a reset.

2007…

Up-and-coming OC: Major Applewhite
DC: Kevin Steele

2023…

Up-and-coming OC: Tommy Rees
DC: Kevin Steele

Well, lucky for us, we're about to find out firsthand.

Steele is still a top defensive coordinator in the college game for sure so don't be fooled by what these folks are saying.

I hated to see Auburn when he coached that defense because they were vicious.

He will bring that NASTINESS back to this defense which is what we lacked the past few years.

I don't know what he knows in terms of X's and O's but he has tons of knowledge and wisdom.

Ahh, well there you have it. Saban just turned the reset dial back a little too far. Whoops.

We laugh, but if this had happened two seasons ago, then Applewhite might have gotten the job again (he was an analyst at the time).

Both hires are exactly what 99% of y’all were wanting. And still the hand wringing.

A more physical, run based approach on offense.

A simpler scheme on defense.

It’s not flashy but can definitely work out well. A complementary approach.

My opinion is Steele wanted back in the state of Alabama for retirement and to be close to family. I think he hated it at Miami. Deal is with Saban is to hold the ship for when Pruitt is cleared and then retire or become associate head coach of defense, or an off the field position. This could be this spring/ fall. He gets to be close to family and hopefully get his retirement from state of Alabama.

Lol at people comparing Saban to Bowden

Saban has 7 NCs Bowden has 2

Saban coaches to win championships, Bowden coaches to win games

Since I’m a dipshit please explain the differences? I know what you want them to be but they aren’t actually there. If you can’t see Saban is letting up, just like Bowden did then idk what to tell you

Have never compared them as coaches. I’m comparing the end of their tenures coaching. Bowden got lazy and let everyone else run the program. Saban isn’t there yet but it’s trending the exact same way with this Steele hire. Bring in someone you know can do it for you.
