Because lets face it, he was a terrible football PLAYER. He is way better at this .
A little exaggerated if you ask me. It took too long to switch him to defense, and he didn’t live up to his star ranking, but far from terrible

Exactly. He at least had a cup of coffee in the NFL. Terrible players do not do that.

You must have forgotten his switch to Defense.
Regardless, he was an ace recruiter and big source of hype for us fans. I wish him well.

Not that we wanted to lose TReed.
But this article should help ease the pain. Love him or not. It’s likely an upgrade overall
I love to hear that! Really hoping to step on the neck of bama in the coming years

Same. I've been under the impression TR is an ace recruiter

On what do we base his Ace recruiting skills on? He was not allowed to Recruit at Auburn. Maybe he will be great, but seems more like hire the Auburn guys, Auburn should not be a training ground. Get the best person, not the best Auburn person. Tweeting, "We not done yet" does not make you a good recruiter.
Lets see how he does now that he is a coach, I hope he does great!

He may have been better at defense than he was as a 5* WR but he really never produced at either.
We dont really have to be nice. It is what it is.

He was one of he guys in charge on staying in contact with recruits. Calls, texts, being with them on visits. Plus he went out on the road anytime we had an opening. He did lots of recruiting for us.

No but recruits literally saying how much they love him and how he was a factor in their recruitment does. Also probably telling that now for two years in a row we held off on hiring a position coach to allow him to go on the road and recruit.

Ryan Williams recommitting to bama didn't bother me. The loss to bama didn't bother me. This bothers me.
This is a crazy take.
This is at least somewhat good news. He’s moving up. It’s good for him. The other two things are just bad. No silver lining.

People internally say he’s a great recruiter. Recruits have mentioned him plenty of times which I haven’t seen much for an off field guy.

We’ve had multiple years where after a position coach left, he was allowed to recruit. Also kind of tells you he’s a good recruiter if he keeps getting called to do that.
I’m all for hire the best guy not the Auburn guy. I don’t really see how that applies here. He did a great job in his role.
But also I think people are being dramatic about the effect of this.

Yeah. He can recruit on campus and had many opportunities over the last few years to fill in on the road during coaching changes.
Elite hype man that gives the fans what they want. That’s what we’ll mostly miss. He has an outstanding story and because he’s so engaging he was an asset in the facility. Agree - doubt he’s moving the needle for any particular recruit but you want as many Trovon Reeds around as you can get, IMO.

For someone that sometimes claims has close connections to the program your questions surprise me.
Recruits love him and mention him often. He plays a pivotal role when recruits hit campus and when he has a lot of contact with recruits. This promotion is a really good thing for Trovon and his energy will be missed, but it’s not devastating in anyway.
He’s a fan favorite of course and his comments about recruiting is based on what recruits tell him and the coaches they will pick Auburn. He can’t predict what might change in the closing moments of a recruit’s decision. I am happy for the young man.

So is this in effect a purge of Auburn Men going on? I guess with the exception of Marcus Davis for obvious reasons. Gonna be an interesting offseason. I hope a decent QB emerges at the end of Spring practices.
