Second best QB in school history behind Peyton? I have a lot of respect for this young man. He ended the 15 year losing streak to Alabama that Eric Ainge started.

There’s a lot to choose from…Conredge Holloway, Casey Clausen, Heath Shuler, Tee Martin (22-3 as a starter, national title, never lost to ThUGA, etc).

Similar vein, what's Hooker's pro outlook? I was very impressed with the deep ball and accuracy, but isn't Heupel's system predicated on quick reads and looks?
Just curious what Vols think he could do in the League.

Heupel system also had a lot of long passes on the outside to open up the defense, and he did those well. I am curious about Vol and Gator fans opinions because i am a Carolina fan and we are talking about taking Anthony Richardson at 9 rather than HH in the early second. Seems crazy to me because i think AR sucks and is a quitter.

I'm no VOLS fan but I don't see Hooker making it in the NFL. Heupel's offense doesn't translate to the NFL and he doesn't have to go through progressions as much as an NFL QB will - plus Hooker is over-aged at 25 so his development ceiling is likely lower as well.

Yeah, Tee made me realize the importance of a dual threat QB in college where you have limited practice time and only a few years to capitalize your talent and those around you.
The prototypical Payton style QB is more valuable over long time in the pros.

The 1998 Florida team wasn't nearly as good as the Florida teams Peyton played and anyone who watched both teams knows why Tee Martin didn't get as much pub as Peyton. Martin was 7/20 for 64 yards in the 1998 Florida game. Florida honestly dominated the box score in that game but lost. Martin didn't carry Tennessee to victory in really any game in that season.

Heath Shuler was the runner-up for the Heisman behind Charlie Ward and the eventual #3 overall draft pick in the NFL. Casey Clausen had a pretty incredible SEC record in 4 years (14-1 on the road). Holloway was an All-SEC player in football and baseball. What are you talking about? (and as an LSU fan no less

Holloway and Clausen were elite. Both was game changer and elite college QB’s.

A big question for him in the league will be can he scramble-to-throw rather than scramble-to-run.
I'm unsure if Josh coached him this way or if it's just his natural instinct, but Hooker very rarely would scramble with the intention of throwing. If he took off, 99% of the time it was to pickup yards with his legs. That can work in college, but he ain't gonna last long trying that in the NFL.

Tee Martin was good but he gets lost in the shuffle because his stats were pretty middle of the road. I don't think he was close to top 20 in QB stats for anything other than maybe TDs. And I remember that TN/FL game. Tennessee's offense was terrible and I am pretty sure Martin didn't even hit 100 yards passing. They won because Al Wilson went off.

When I look at how elite a QB is, I consider how they fared at the highest level of football. Shuler was a total bust. Clausen was a backup for one year. Holloway was a CFLer.
