It would be kinda awkward for Lane to turn down an offer when no offer has been extended.

The direct discussions are with Sexton. If a formal offer is to be made, the contents will be known well in advance by Sexton (and Kiffin). Everything will be worked out before the offer is extended, and it won’t be extended unless Auburn knows he will accept it. If he isn’t going to accept, the offer won’t be made and everyone pretends like no offer was made.

It was on rant yesterday an offer had been extended. Kiffin likely had second thoughts and said, “Thanks, but no thanks”.

In fairness, IF (Big "if") the rumor that he is going to resign Friday and take the Auburn job, then an offer has certainly been extended. People read news sources and take them for granted to be the truth. Do you all believe everything people say without question?
