Would The Board (Again, Here, Not On Campus) Be Happy With Freeze?

Yes. He is a man in search of redemption. He would be dangerous with our resources. He already has impressive offenses, but he also has good defenses too. He can develop QBs. I also think that he would be loyal for us giving his shot, so we wouldn’t have to worry about him leaving- ala Lane. To me, it’s kind of a Bruce situation.

Happy might be pushing it, but I wouldn't be unhappy if he turned things around.

He'd move my needle to the plus side, but not to 11.

I would not.

If it was just the stuff at miss then sure but him going out just this past sumnmer contacting a woman who was alleging sexual harassment shows he hasn’t changed.

Freeze would do something to embarrass Auburn if hired.

Absolutely not. And it has nothing to do with hookers or how he portrays himself as a Christian.

DMing a sexual assault victim about the guy who was accused of assaulting her shows poor judgement on his part. A lot of poor judgement led to his dismissal at OM. Has a history of it. I don’t want any of that around our program. The whole coaching from a hospital bed was goofy too. Yes, while winning solves a lot I look at AU as a brand and a great one at that. TBH, I think Freeze is below us.

As far as coaching he’s probably a better coach than Malzahn but not by much.

Edit: what Krandor said

Hadn't followed this story, but I'd rather have Caddy than Freeze anyway.

Eh. Still concerns me that Freeze was hiring those hookers for recruits and fell on that sword to save his career.

Had he admitted what is probably the truth, he’d never coach even HS ball again.

What little pride that’s left would be gone with Freeze.

Edit: Even if I tried to stomach Freeze as our HC, he is closer to Kiffin than Urban anyways so I don’t understand why people cannot let him go.

As I’ve stated before, its not the morality of his actions that concern me.

Its the blithering idiocy of using his University-issued cell phone to make those calls. One whose records are required to be retained for years by state law.

He was in his mid-40s and been in coaching for 25 years. It’s not like it was a “rookie mistake”.

I'd be ok with Freeze, but, wildly unhappy that we missed on Lane, or Deion..

I would be ok with it. I would not have the concerns about his leaving for greener pastures with our best players that I do about Kiffin. I know that some posters would be concerned that he might embarrass Auburn but I think Kiffin is more likely to do that.

I would. I am not so sure that Kiffin would be a better hire than Freeze.

Nah, but I don't think I'd go full-on sput meltdown. The hospital bed shenanigans was just too weird for me.

Dude can call an offense for sure though.

I would be very disappointed if our university can't do better than hiring a disgraced escort hiring ole miss coach who was dumb enough to use his university phone?

I'm also very suspicious of his run at Liberty. I expect any coach to do well there. They are a school that has a $3b endowment and are willing to spend on football. Their NIL program may be competitive with many p5 schools

If we miss on lfirst choice, I know it would be a huge gamble, but I would rather see Prime. After seeing this team rally around Caddy and just strong leadership, I think Prime would bring that, plus some. Strong coordinators and Prime would be fun to watch.

34-26.

Not bad.

No where near the support Lane received.

No Gus is a better coach.

I don’t even care about the moral stuff
