I honestly feel like this is the main problem with this years team. How did we go from Jeudy, Ruggs, Smith, Waddle, then Williams and Metchie, to what we have now? How do we fix it quickly?

Brooks seems like our only consistent WR and he wasnt even starting the first few games for some reason.

I don't agree that WRs are are main problem this season, especially when you look at why we lost the two games that we did.

Most of them are freshmen and sophomores, and IMO the talent is obviously there. Its a stinking, rotting horse at this point, but the main problem is BoB.

It's definitely a perplexing issue. I feel the issue is a combination of our OC's route trees and also Bryce's timing with the receivers. Our passing game never developed chemistry because Bryce hurt his shoulder and the young receivers had never got in a rhythm with him. Since he's been back he's been reluctant to throw deep balls and even his shorter routes he's only throwing to a receiver if he's wide open. Similar to the receivers in the 2017 season they're not running routes at full speed because of them not expecting the pass to be there during the route. Most of our successful passing plays have come when the play has broken down and Bryce is able to pull his Johnny Manziel impersonation. If he never hurts his shoulder I think we would've seen better production from our receivers.

Recruiting rankings and comparing those rankings to the guys in the past.

I suppose every so called 4 star and 5 star ranking is subjective from year to year. After all, none of these guys are on the level of Williams, Cooper, Waddle, Julio or Jeudy.
Bond might develop into a Williams. Brooks is not on the level of those guys and might develop into a 2nd receiver but he's not a 1 receiver type and needs an ace to take the heat off. Maybe Bama can get someone in the portal for next year. They need a difference maker on the perimeter which they don't have in this group.

It is ridiculous to think that we have to have first round wr talent in order to get guys open. This isn't the players, we have a coaching issue... Boob can't scheme a wr out of any empty parking lot.

WR and OL play have been the worst we’ve had since 07.

We have playmaker. What we don't have is a competent OC who knows how to properly utilize them.

I’m under no illusion that any these guys are on the level we’ve seen in the recent past.

But it’s 2022. I know for a fact this team has good enough receivers to have a really good passing attack with Bryce and a halfway decent OC.

I asked my dad this question the other day when he was shitting on the receivers..

How many times did a defense absolutely bust a coverage and leave a receiver open for a walk in TD or long play?

I genuinely can’t think of a SINGLE time. Going an entire season without one busted coverage is the biggest indictment of an offensive scheme I’ve ever seen.

Some of this is on Bryce. I watched them this weekend and they would have openings but Bryce doesn’t throw them open like Mac and Tua did. I don’t know if it’s his arm or what but he misses quite a few of these plays a game. Mac wasn’t.

You can't succeed in modern college football without a star receiver. None of these guys who've played this year have star potential. None of them get consistent separation or take the top off the defense. If you don't have at least one guy that can do that, you're passing game won't be sufficient to win a championship.

Some of these guys we have our decent players. I don't mean to disparage them. But you have to have at least one star receiver. Finding one either in the transfer portal or recruiting should be a top priority this offseason.

all of those guys played with a competent ic who worked to get them open by scheme. Sark for instance based everything we ran on getting the skill players up to speed and moving to where defenders were not. Bob has our guys running stick routes into double coverage

Bryce Young is not a good QB when it comes to deep ball accuracy.
