Do you possibly stay in-state and be coached by an inferior SEC coach, take the quicker more NIL money now, and not get the proper coaching for the NFL
OR..
Do you leave to go out of state where the NIL may not be as much, but your chances improve exponentially on going to the NFL and getting coached by some great coaches (ala Saban, Kirby, Kelly, etc)

I think as time passes players will ultimately figure out that they want to make it to the NFL. Some will take the quick pay days but that money won’t last forever.

The smart thing would be to get better under a better coach.
A lot of these kids have family members and "handlers" that advise them otherwise.

What's my family's financial situation like?
Did I grow up dreaming of playing for team A, B, or C?
Which campus do I like the most? Do I care about degree?
Which coaches are best for my individual position?
For some the decisions are easy. For some it's a more involved process.

I would go to different schools, see which ones I liked, then use whatever leverage I got to get NIL, but go there regardless. And I wouldn't visit anywhere North of Knoxville, no sense in going to a place with real winters.
Being a top recruit looks like one of the funner things to be.

Depends on the NIL money. Only a small percentage of players make the NFL. Take the money while you can.

I go to Aggie, Miami, or shorthorns and transfer in a year after I’ve cashed in my NIL deal as they massively over spend

Competition is much higher there though. 5 star guys can make an impact on inferior programs like Ole Miss immediately. That helps them get recognition for the NFL.
Plenty of 5 star guys sitting the bench behind other 5 star guys at Bama and Georgia.
I also doubt the notion that the top programs with top coaches aren’t offering better NIL deals that local schools.

Let’s be honest here. You are going to get good position coaching at any SEC school including Vanderbilt. You can get to the NFL from anywhere if you’re talented enough. Just go where you feel comfortable and want to get educated and play.

Unfortunately I think the families financial situation becomes a huge factor in where some of these kids go. You can't blame them but I wish it was more of where they really want to be than how much they can make.

The coaching is high level all over most of the power 5 and especially the SEC (vandy excluded). You make it sound like some SEC school is using player's parents to coach.

I would go to a college that offered meteorology as a degree. And I would sign a LOI if the university gave me assurance that I could have sex with hot women on campus.

Yeah I mean if you're really that great of a player then the coaching doesn't honestly matter that much. Plenty of great players have played for mediocre coaches. Hell Houston Nutt had two top 10 overall draft picks back to back years at Arkansas.
Might also depend on the position too though. If you have a horrible OL it's harder to look great as a QB.

You’re something like 5x as likely to be drafted as a 5* from Bama as anywhere else.
That being said, these are kids and most of them won’t be able to see past the new charger and 500k waved under their nose.
So wherever the best nil deal is will do it for at least half regardless of the coaching
