2019 AU should replace 2015 AU.

Yeah 2013 is a head scratcher.
I also kinda take umbrage with the whole "omg uga was so underachiving in 2008" thing. The only reason anyone thinks that is becuase the media put us at #1. We didn't do that or ask for that, so we're going to be punished by that same media for their frick up?
That team had some elite skill pieces on offense but had major quesitons on defense, and a DC that was generally underwhelming his entire tenure. And the cherry on top is that one of hte lynchpins of the entire team, our left tackle who would probably be a multi-year NFL all pro at the position, was lost for the year in August. Then on top of ALL THAT, who were our losses to? A juggernaut UF that won the national title, a bama team that started the season 12-0 and played for the conference title, and a decent tech team wiht a newfangled offense. Yet we still won 10 games and finished ranked in the top 10.

One thing in common for all these programs is that they've made it to Atlanta before.

No A&M team made the list because no one ever expects them to do anything of note, hence they can't underachieve.
I dunno they seemed to be media off season champs this year in spite of having never performed on the field... was a head scratcher to me.

2008 was pretty disappointing as an LSU fan. Defending champs, RP kicked off the team so we had to start a Harvard transfer the first few games until he got concussed against Auburn, then had to alternate freshmen the rest of the season (they would rotate in and out for the next few seasons actually). Got 50+ hung on us twice by UGA and Florida, aided by pick sixes which was a theme throughout the season. Had to come back from 31-3 against Troy in the freezing cold.

I mean, idk, not really. There were 3 or 4 games we lost that could’ve gone our way with a few different bounces, but that team still felt like a 5-7 team talent-wise

That 2013 Georgia team was loaded when healthy. I remember South Carolina was #6 and lost to them in the 2nd game of the year.

Yea I don’t remember thinking 08 was going to be anything special. 2015 was majorly disappointing as was 2003. 2015 was all JJ though. 2003 had the talent but no OC

Yea losing 15 starters to the NFL, two coordinators, starting DT to Baylor, O’s wife, and the starting QB after 3 games will do that. The only thing overachieving about LSU in 2020 was Coach O’s Snapchat game.

I can think of several LSU teams that should be on that list. 2005 and 2006 should have been national championships for LSU. 2010 failed to meet expectations and 2021 was as bad as 2020. I guess a requirement for this list is being recognized as a real threat to win it all, so that explains why every Aggie team from 2000-2021 isn't on there.

You might want to recheck that then. Because one of the teams has never gone to the SECCG in Atlanta except as a spectator if I’m not much mistaken

Georgia 2004 should be in the top 4 ln the list,
they were stacked.
2020 LSU should not be on the list.

2020 LSU should not be on the list.

The reason "the media put us at number 1" is because we finished number 2 the year before that. It wasn't too much of a stretch. Finish number 2 and then you have 9 starters back on defense and a lot of firepower coming back on offense in 2008.
That team played with no spirt. You can nitpick about injuries to offensive lineman or whatever, but the bottom line is we had 9 starters back on defense from a defense that was lights out to end the previous season and we had Stafford, Knowshon, Mo Mass and AJ Green on offense.
And we didn't just "lose" to Alabama and Florida. We got embarrassed. And then of course there's the Tech game.

With all of the posts today...how is 2022 Tennessee not #1 on the list?

Both were extremely pathetic losses
