Kentucky was.

Oats certainly needs to evaluate this general downward trend in 3pt shooting percentage over the course of the season. It feels like a recurring problem for Oats' Alabama teams.

You can't be a 3 and layup/dunk offense without the 3 late in the season.

Yes, you kind hate to say it after all the half informed comments about "living by the 3".

But, like you say, you can certainly die by it if you can't do better than 10-15%. Same would be true of any shot.

I'm not sure the slumping shooting down the stretch was quite as devastating the previous 2 seasons but it has always been the downward trajectory you mention.

This is how our key shooters finished the stretch run after Georgia game this year:

Sears 10-52
Miller 18-72
Griffen 4-33
Burnett 5-25

Only JQ and Clowney shot at their same season % (and for Clowney that's still only around 28%).

It's perplexing that it affects upperclass and freshmen, happens against both good and average defensive teams and, having watched every game, includes missing a lot of good, open looks that these same players shot 50% on for most of the season.

Sears is probably the most confusing since he's been extremely slump resistant over his career. The type played who shoots around 40% by going 4-10 almost every week.

Not sure what the answer but it makes one rethink those posts about doing more to avoid tired legs late in the season that always get downvoted.

Painful to watch this game.
Like driving by the house you wanted to buy, but it got sold out from under you.

Yes, it has been a trend of poorer play down the stretch.
However, we did win the SEC, and the SECT, and looked good in the first 2 NCAA games.
Offense did struggle.
Maybe it's conditioning.
Maybe it's an extra emphasis on defense
Maybe it was the outside distractions

Creighton beating sdsu like the scrubs they are. Officials are actually calling fouls in the Aztecs also.

Do people actually think this? It sucks we lost, but to say we lost to anything other than a damn good basketball team is an insult to SDSU and to us.

There are only good teams at this point. Don’t know what you’re watching. It’s a four point game.

San Diego State was literally the one bad matchup for us in our region…..and in typical Bama basketball fashion that is who we drew

When you shoot as badly as we did at the end of the year there has to be a reason.

A team of this caliber should NEVER go 3-27 from 3.

The reason is SDSU has the best 3 point defense in the country, they do that to everyone. Creighton is 2 of 17 from 3 vs them today.

This. It was our Achilles heel all year long.

Hell I’d be fine with them winning it all at this point, but at some point you just have to think that their lack of scoring will catch up with them when another team eventually gets hot.

Those scrubs are headed to the final four.

Had a 9 pt lead over them with 12 to go. This gets worse by the moment.

We blew it.
