Only good part of this loss is all the brain dead fricks who didn’t even know basketball existed until 2 weeks ago will leave the thread and those of us who actually care can get back to good discussion

If Bama basketball was grabbing it, the can would have missed the floor entirely somehow.

Oats probably needs to reevaluate his offensive philosophy a bit too. We could have used some decent mid-range jumpers tonight.

Can a mod please I'm begging please ban Eli Goldfinger? He's obviously a troll/alter. It's ridiculous at this point.

Riley Norris would have made the shots when they counted tonight. We don’t have a Riley Norris.

Coleman is why we can’t get past the Sweet 16? Jfc
Coleman is a symbol of a program that doesn’t take basketball seriously. We have the worst gym in the conference yet this board acts like we should be competing for national titles.
There’s no reason this program should be good.
It isn’t a cursed. It simply isn’t good.

Brandon and Clowney played bad enough tonight that maybe they should just go ahead and come back next year and try to improve.

Joka I hope I’m wrong but I don’t see JB developing a jump shot. And unfortunately we don’t have time to wait on him to develop into a point guard. We only had one good ball handler all year. I would take Wendell Green over JB in heartbeat l.

We were killed by the fact that guys like rylen and nimari who were so effective at times this year have become such bad players. Really don't know what happened with them

It’s an inefficient shot. It makes no sense to shoot a midrange 2

I think we have seen the high watermark of what Oats is capable of at Alabama. It's not nothing: SEC regular season and tourney titles, sweet 16 berths.
Still, on the 2nd weekend he's going to run into teams with craftier coaches who have spent a week diagnosing his offense and have the recipe to short circuit it. UCLA and SDSU played out very similarly tbh. Teams that did a good job of controlling tempo, limiting 3pt shots, and defending the rim.
Oats is not going to change so we're basically only ever get over this hump if we have the nuts flush roster:
A great defensive forward (Herb Jones/Clowney)
A great scoring wing (Brandon Miller)
-- And the piece we've yet to have --
A physical combo guard who attacks the rims like Dwyane Wade.
Our guards are just too soft at the rim for this offense to work. They do not force bad contact by the defenders to garner FTs.
That's the only way I see this working in the 2nd weekend and beyond in the tourney.

I knew we were done when with about 1:25 to go Sears hit a trailing JQ at the top of the key, and JQ decided to dribble into the lane and I have no idea what happened after that. I went to the back yard and took a whizz.

Does clowney come back as bad as he's played lately
Posted on 3/24/23 at 8:16 pm to Tyler Crane
Was SEC basketball overated this year and do Clowney come back next year because he hasn't looked like a sure shot pro in the last couple of games. I was a big fan of Bradley earlier in the season but he has tons of work to do on his game. Does anybody think a player will follow Coach Hodgson to Arkansas State like a Namari Burnett.

If we can play defense like this year (remains to be seen with loss of defensive assistant coach) we’ll always be in the hunt in the second weekend. We just can’t play our worst game of the season in that second weekend, which we generally do every time we’re there.

To add insult to injury, watch San Diego St get to play a 15 seed for the Final Four.
That's what really hurts...we will NEVER have a region open up a path like this again...the 2, 3 and 4 seeds all went out early... and we just dicked it all away. That's what really makes me sick. It's not like we had a Duke or UCLA blue blood to get past to finally make a Final Four.

All SDSU did was take those and beat us. Im not advocating for it either. It's just kinda hilarious

I would be surprised by that. I’d say Burnett is inline to start next year at the moment.
