I’ve been seeing that phrase a lot on the board the past few weeks. While offensive style of play has dramatically changed in the SEC, that’s not the reason y’all can’t stop anyone. The SEC is basically 2015 Big12. A league of offensive juggernauts, and bunch of stressed out defensive staffs who don’t know how to defend it. There’s a reason Pitt had more success vs Tennessee than Pete Goldings squad. The SEC is once again outdated in college football. SEC squads would recruit the line of scrimmage so well in the past it never mattered how shitty their coaches were. Gene Chizik could beat Chip Kelly. Les Miles teams could handle some the most innovative coaches of the 2010’s.All the misdirection, quick reads, RPOs, pre snap motions etc are neutralizing even the most imposing lines now. It’s the era of position less football.

Texas is still going to go 7-5 every year once y’all join

If you don't think controlling the line of scrimmage still matters then you're an idiot.

Yes, that's why the Big12 hasn't won a national championship in over 15 years.

The game has become more checkers than chess because ALL the rules favor offense.

This more than any other reason.
I see a lot of receivers push off for separation but you rarely see it called.

Of course it matters. Though all I seen yesterday were coaches putting their players in a position to fail. Who cares if you have two first round picks on your defensive line, if your big arse linebackers can’t get depth quick enough to stop a seam route. If your box saftey can’t keep a slot receiver in front of him for more than a second. Running outside or inside the tackle’s becomes feasible real quickly when you get those boys spread out & off balance.

And all offensive juggernauts in those teams too. Besides the Georgia team of last year.

I think UGA defense sort has the idea, they have LBers that are comfortable in coverage, a stout DL, and a secondary that is good enough in man, including safeties, and at least this year aren't as concerned about the actual sack as disrupting a QB from making the throw he wants to make, or at least making him do it on the run. I think this style works better with mobile QBs that can run it, spread offenses, and all the BS about roughing the passer.

The issue is that shootouts are uncommon in the SEC. So atleast 1 side is playing D in most games. Vols front 7 is very good and while the DBs are giving up yards, Bama was the only team to score a bunch of points. We are not seeing a bunch of 50ish to 50ish game like the not so big 12 was known for. It’s an exciting brand of ball that is seeing so game changing plays from both sides of the ball.

Zero reason to be a run-first offense today. Why reduce your opportunity for drive-saving targeting and PI calls?

We were excellent in the trenches yesterday. So much better than your typical big 12 offense

nah...
Had we not been able to block Bama's pash rusher they would've throttled us. Game is still played up front.

We “blocked” Bamas pass rush too with two freshman offensive line. Yet Iowa State was probably the most disruptive front we’ve faced, sometimes with only three down lineman.

Modern Football, to me, is a ton of aggressive offensive coordinators taking shots. And a ton of defensive coordinates that are passive, and somehow thing they'll take eleven kids and guard every blade of grass on the field.
Offenses go for it on fourth down more than ever. Defenses don't play to get off the field.

Texas is the ugly girl with a rich dad. Just entitlement and people pretending you’re relevant.
Horns down.
Horns down.

Offense sells tickets
Defense wins championships
(Probably why the B12 has fared poorly in the CFP)
Bear Bryant played a high scoring game on both sides and his comment after the game was about how bad the defenses were.
