Is recruiting or coaching more important?

The answer seems to be pretty obvious imo.

Not really, Texas AM's "recruits" are all true freshman.

This is absolutely correct. As is Coach's comment. You must have a capable QB to be competitive these days. It should be the #1 thing that our new coach works on

I can’t figure out how A&M is the glorified recruiting guinea pig experiment when year after year the championship teams are stacked with talent.

One team that recruits great but cannot deliver wins means zilch.

As for Tennessee you could point out schemes or their transfer portal success as their formula….Hooker, former 5* WR Bru McCoy, Velus Jones from Saraland Alabama last year, etc.

This right here. And just another reminder, Harsin got zero Olinemen, Calzada and Ashford out of all the QBs available, and no difference makers at WR.

And Oline. Did you see how much time Hooker had tonight. It’s a beautiful thing watching a qb stand in a pocket and wait for the plays to develop.

The on,y teams that really improve in the portal are teams that are traditional powerhouses or invest heavy in NIL. We are neither.

Great Oline >>> great QB. I’ve seen uat and thUGA win NCs recently without a great QB.

Disagree with the traditional powerhouse part, but Harsin’s distain for NIL has definitely not helped in recruiting.

I don't think OM are either of these but did well in the portal...

Tennessee will not be winning any championships this year because there are still some holes but they have shown you can solidify a roster through the portal and sensible recruiting after a max exodus (exodus after Jeremy Pruitt was so bad that a Tennessee fan told me the NCAA changed the rules waivers to allow an extra number of counters largely because of theirs.) That may be true, might not. Regardless, Tennessee stopped being dreadful Tennessee once they hired Heupel.

They were ranked
1 in 2022
8 in 2021
6 in 2020
4 in 2019

T8&4U has been a top recruiting school for multiple years. Yes they had the huge year last year, but to claim their top recruits are all freshmen is simply not true

So, it’s a coaching issue.? Or maybe it’s still a recruiting and coaching issue.

All that tells me is A&M is a sleeping giant. Unless they are stacking talent irrespective of their needs then Fisher or the next guy will have the opportunity to make things really start clicking and once that happens they suddenly look like better coaches while the better coaches with inferior talent become roadkill.

A&M and Texas are both sleeping giants in our new NIL world

It's an issue of Jimbo running the 1993 FSU offense and the same offense he ran when he worked for Tot at Auburn. He has changed almost nothing.

QB’s aren’t cheap but you got to get one to win in this league with an Oline or scheme that doesn’t need a great oline
