Is Harsin really that bad a recruiter?

Per 247, his '22 class had an average rank of 89.45, which was in the top-half of the SEC.
For '23, it's 89.43 ... about the same. They just have less commits.
At the end of the day, each team can have only 85 players. It can be argued it's the overall average that matters in terms of quality depth.

I think he's doing a fine job.

Yeah no shite. Looking at 8 I think in the 2023 class...90 days out from early signing day.

He landed Clesi. That's gotta count for something, right?

McElwain's failure here should've put the rest of the SEC on notice about ever hiring a PNW guy.

IF he can find another 10-12 4*'s to add to this class then he'll be fine if he also adds up 5-6 olinemen in the portal or Juco. The clock's ticking and he needs to start stacking 'em up or he'll be pushed out with a nice wad of $$.

Now that everyone else can buy players through the NIL, Auburn has lost it's main selling point.

This class probably would be better if that whole debacle with the administration and boosters hadn't happened early this year. Nobody's gonna want to commit to a school when they know the coach is gonna be fired.

Yeah but Harsin is going to have Auburn at like 65 next year, which is the potential train wreck they're facing.

Laremey Tunsil, Robert Nkemdiche, Laquon Treadmill would be more fitting wouldn't it?

South Carolina has 89.38 for 2023. Harsin is about to be out recruited by Shane Beamer

What if he’s getting all this grief and he never actually porked her? I’d kinda feel bad for him.

Not that bad in terms of average. Almost all his commits are 4 stars which solid, but I also think the services are too generous with 4 star rankings. AU does not have a single player ranked in the top 125 or so. IMO 4 stars should stop after the top 200 recruits.

Plus, it's killed my favorite CFB joke.
If folks ask me something about the NFL, I'd say, "I wish my Dawgs all the success in the world, but once they start getting paid, I don't give them any attention. That's why I could never be an Auburn fan..."

He knew we had 7 OL guys on our two-deep that were entering their final year of eligibility this season (one of whom had to give up football already).
How many OL did he sign in '22, or get in the portal to replace them? (Narrator: only one - a kid from Auburn HS).
How many does he have committed thus far in '23?(Narrator: uhh, only one again - ANOTHER kid from Auburn HS).
I think it's clear to anyone who watched last Saturday that there is playing time galore at AU in 2023. But it doesn't appear that too many are rising to the challenge thus far. And from most indications, it doesn't sound like Harsin is making much of an effort to change that.

Tough to recruit when your school is publicly doing their best to get rid of you.

Handling it poorly for sure. Reminds of the Les Miles debacle.
