Hated to see Missouri leave B-12, ‘‘twas an-easy win, even in their “great years”

I understand Missou. Cable TV viewers.
Not sure why South Carolina was added. I guess Clemson turned them down.

Mizzou brought KC and Stl markets. Those markets alone have more folks than state like Arkansas. The issue with Mizzou is you have a divide between academics and athletics. In the 80’s the chancellor or president cut off funds to athletics to focus on academics. That put Mizzou in a hole they finally climbed out of with Pinkel. Odom had a ready made program but wasn’t ready to be a head coach. He set the program back a few years.
Missouri has all the components to be a top 25 program, especially with local talent, but has several things that work against them. First and foremost, chiefs, cards, blues are king. State is a pro oriented. Secondly, two largest population centers are in the corners of the state, divided amongst several programs. State will get behind the program if it’s winning, but won’t follow blindly as it has other entertainment options. A state like Arkansas has zero sports options outside razorbacks. They devote the time to college like kc does to chiefs. Mizzou needs to go all in to revive the days of competing with notre dame, Ohio state or just be happy cashing checks.

Bruh, Clemson was never in consideration. We got in because FSU and Miami turned down the invite, not Clemson.
We were an independent back then so it probably made the movie easier. It was also when geography still mattered so it just kind of fell to us after the FL schools didn't join.

SCar got invited after FSU and Miami both pussied out. Mizzou got invited because of TV markets and UF's former president being a fanboy.

In Missouri, it’s all about the Cardinals, Chiefs, Blues.

It’s a false statement that Mizzou brought the STL and KC markets.
The state of Mizzou doesn’t care about college football regarding Mizzou. Same for KC. Mizzou has never been that good at basketball. 3 Elite 8s all time and nothing more?
Both of those markets were already watching SEC ball as those both have a ton of SEC transplants. The KC market is and was watching Kansas basketball. I bet you haven’t seen much of an increase in the SEC in regards to tv from the state of Mizzou.
What is there was already watching the SEC

Missouri cares about the professional teams, always will. Missouri pro teams have championships and there’s a following.
Missouri college football is not on par and can’t compete, just the way it is up there.

Lived in Stl and attended Mizzou when They played Arkansas bball in 80-90s. First hand nobody in stl knew anything about Arkansas. Secondly, those were big 12 days. Outside of own conference it was a big 10 broadcasts. Definitely knew who Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Alabama was, but outside of that no clue. Currently I would say KC is still big 12 lean and stl divided between sec and big 10.

Yet oddly both SC and Mizzou have made the SEC championship game... while teams who have been in the SEC forever like Kentucky, Vandy and Ole Miss have not. Neither has A&M... one of the new additions you didn't mention.

You wasted all that typing on people who finger bang their cousins and long for the South to rise again.
Don’t do it again.
