It’s a false statement that Mizzou brought the STL and KC markets.
It is absolutely true. When Mizzou is good, it dominates those markets.

They both win the shitty East's division when Georgia or Florida didn't

The issue with Mizzou is you have a divide between academics and athletics. In the 80’s the chancellor or president cut off funds to athletics to focus on academics.
Darn university chancellors and their focus on academics!!

And shittier teams than 2010 SCar and 2013/2014 Mizzou have won the West.
Reminder that Arky not only has a losing record to East teams but a losing record to UK as well.

Could have gotten Clemson and one of the Virginia schools. Then A$M and Texas. Oklahoma Nebraska last.

The original plan was either Texas or A&M for the West and either FSU or Miami for the East. But the former schools cockblocked each other in the state legislature and the latter schools were pussies.
Clemson was originally supposed to have left the ACC with SCar in the early 70s over the tobacco road mafia but they pussed out I guess.

Still don’t understand Missouri or South Carolina being invited to the conference
This shite has been discussed ad nauseam since admission of MU and A&M (can't really say about SCAR). The answer is readily obtainable. The article linked below explains it in clear detail.
Spoiler alert...the answer is MONEY.
Texas A&M and Missouri Worth at Least $114 Million a Year to SEC Network
...and it turned out even more lucrative than that projection.
For those that can't wrap their head around how that value was obtained because "nobody cares about Mizzou football", try this from the article to enlighten you:
quote:
A 12 team SEC had 20.8 million cable and satellite subscribers, a 14 team SEC has 30.3 million. By adding just two schools to the conference the SEC increased its overall subscriber base by nearly 50%.
Every one of those 9.5 million cable and satellite households would end up with the SEC Network on its basic tier.
Why?
Because there would be howls of outrage if the SEC Network wasn't included. Lots of SEC fans complained about Missouri's inclusion to the SEC because they argued that people didn't care that much in Missouri about Mizzou football. That's the wrong way to look at this. The better way to look at it is this, do enough people care to demand that the SEC Network be carried by their local cable or satellite service?
The answer is yes. Hell, yes, even.
Simple stuff if you REALLY want to know the answer.

South Carolina and Arkansas got us to 12 teams...so we could then hold a Conference Championship game. That served in developing the conference to where it is today.

Offseason thread in the middle of week 4.... WTF.

South Carolina is the flagship school of a Southeastern State, makes complete sense.

Oh sorry about that. We didn’t realize that if UGA or UF are “down” that we are supposed to be even shittier.
We will file that away for future reference. Thank you for looking out for us.

Doesn’t matter either way for me personally. Mens hockey dwarfs them both in terms of revenue.

That's always funny coming from Arkansas fans considering they have a losing record against the East and won the West as an unranked team twice.
