We made it 6 times from 1997-2017. An average of an appearance every 3.5 years.

Honestly?

Probably around 8-10 years.

Half our fanbase and half our boosters and half our board of directors are not happy with the coach after one season.

Until we suck long enough for people to learn to get behind the coach and team for a minimum of 3-4 years before starting to criticize - we will never be good in a conference this competitive.

Unfortunately I agree.

Hard to say beyond the immediate future/program but I’m very comfortable in estimating we won’t be in one for the next 3 years.

Based on last year, and losing both coordinators within a year, Harsin doesn’t seem to have much magic on the drawing board.

We’re also leaps and bounds behind in talent compared to the rest of the west.

Auburn can rebound quickly because of our fans loyalty, but this feels a lot like the late 90’s after Bowden.

Bowedn's last year was '98 (after going to the SECCG in '97), with CTT taking over in '99. Were were in the SECCG in 2000, and again in 2004.

Granted, Bama and UGA of that time frame were no where near what they are now, but still I don't think the outlook was as bleak from the majority of the fanbase at that time as it is now.

Games aren’t won on paper. Somebody look up posts in pre season of 2013. Sure everybody had a rosy outlook then.

When we have at a minimum 2 top 10 classes in recruiting back to back. Or somehow come around a couple players that are just generational type talents.

We may not with the coach and AD we have now (yes I know AJ left) but we have been. The SEC West was as competitive as any conference in the history of football in 2010. 2013, it was as well.

Auburn just does not have the staff in place any more to compete at this level. We dont compete at that level every year but we do a few times a decade, if you look at the data, but that is not going to happen with this crew. No way

Unfortunately, we are probably in a Tennessee cycle where we will change coaches a few years, just getting someone we think can do something vs getting someone who has the history of it.

The talent level has plummeted over the past two years and is continuing to do so.. It will not be a easy cycle to get out of

Give Harsin another couple of years and we can adjust your numbers above to 10-12.

We are sucking in the "5 star" category right now. Tank is the only one on the roster. UGA has 15, Bama 14, and aTm 10 on their rosters. Even Florida has 5 and they have a coach who hasn't coached a game.

BUT, we're not doing bad in the 4 star category. We have 34 of them on the roster. This is more than UT, OM, MSU, Arky, KY and even LSU.

Honestly we haven't had all that many 5* players in our program. 16 or 17 I think total? And how many of those have ended up being a bust, at least for us?

That is the way to build the roster rather than chasing the 5* guys.
