Weird how all three of our bluebloods, as well as FOUR of our “other” teams, have a national title in the BCS + CFP era. That’s almost half the conference. How many do yours have?

New Rule: In order to keep your status as a "blueblood", you must be able to win the nattie at minimum once every 20 years. After 20 seasons, your status is reduced from "blueblood" to "has been".

And Maryland will still Ave 2 wins a year..

Why is it that Football and crab cakes is what Maryland does, when clearly they don’t do football!

I don’t consider NEBRASKA a blue blood.

However , “ blueblood “ is a historical thing not a currently relevant thing.

You can’t become one. That doesn’t mean you can’t be the most relevant or powerful program at a given time.

Meechigan hasn't won a title since 1948, they're consistently good, and have money and lots of fans but their ceiling is below ohio st, penn state, clem, Miami fsu, usc, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, lsu, 8&4, Alabama and auburn. Tough to call that elite

Now that the B1G will have USC and UCLA, the national championship count (AP, UPI/BCS/CFP) going into 2022 is:

Southern Cal - 7
Ohio State - 6
Nebraska - 5
Minnesota - 4
Penn State - 2
Michigan State - 2
Michigan - 2
Maryland - 1
UCLA - 1

B1G Football NC total - 30

SEC:

Alabama - 13
Oklahoma - 7
Texas - 4
LSU - 4
Florida - 3
Tennessee - 2
Georgia - 2
Auburn - 1
Texas A&M - 1

SEC Football NC total: 37

Wishful thinking that Notre Dame is B1G bound in football. You can’t even remotely claim them unless there is a tentative agreement that they are joining.

By blue blood I am assuming you are referring to programs that won some shite in the past.

It is a designation meant to assuage the current ineptitude.

You need to remove New-Braska....they're done just like Minnesota.

LIL ol LSU isn't on your list of bluebloods. Guess we'll just take our three natty's this century, go home and watch the B1G on tv. While the rest of the SEC mud stomps your said bluebloods.

So you are the Lord of Asses?

quote:

B1G- tOSU, Mich, Nebraska, USC, (ND)

1 current Blueblood, the rest are has beens like Tennessee

quote:

SEC- Bama, Texas, OKlahoma

2 Bluebloods, DKR is long dead and Buttertooth had 1 Natty before the CFP

I might add LSU as a modern blueblood. Pretty hard to win one Natty with one coach but to win 4 with 4 different coaches (3 in the modern era) is special

Notre Dame could wind up in the B1G and pigs could fly. No cultural fit with Notre Dame in the B1G. They fit best in the ACC and if they wind up there, SEC will be #1 for content and the ACC will be #2. B1G can keep adding populations but the product will not get any better.

MNC winner Michigan State went to the B1G, never won another Natty
MNC winner Penn State went to the B1G, never won another Natty
MNC winner Nebraska went to the B1G, never won another Natty
I can see the same with Southern Cal

You guys think the Domers are not smart enough to see this trend?

And what? The SEC has only ever had 1 blue blood anyway, but that team has more national titles than any Big 10 conference team.

LSU was the first team to play football on foreign soil.

That makes them forever a blue blood IMO

You can add ND, USC, and UCLA and leave Oklahoma and Texas out of the SEC and the B1G still doesn't come close in football. The SEC's dominance in college football is undeniable.

Add OU and Texas to the SEC and it's not even an argument.

Fun fact: Mizzou has as many or more bowl wins and national championships in the past 20 years as Nebraska, Michigan, and Notre Dame.

Also, don't count those chickens 'til they hatch. Notre Dame has shown absolutely no interest in joining the B1G to date.

Remember that time Michigan throttled and manhandled OSU on the way to a triumphant Big Ten Championship?

Only to get decapitated in front of a prime time national audience by the SEC's 2nd place team?

I'm excited to see which SEC program gets to destroy the Big Ten's "champion" this season.
