This is an unusual game in a few ways.

Florida has rarely opened the season with a top 10 opponent over the last 30+ years and Florida has rarely opened the season unranked over the past 30+ years.

With that said, Utah coming in as a 2.5 point favorite feels right. A team that has never played in an early September humid environment and a team that has never played in a stadium like the Swamp at night.

If Florida loses, their season could get off the rails early with a 1-3 start, but it feels like UF has more going for it than a typical unranked team taking on a top 10 opponent

That’s a very low number. Makes me think Florida will win straight up.

I was reading the Utah 247 board recently to see their thoughts on realignment and stumbled across some threads on Florida. It was odd to see how many of them think they walk in to Gainesville and come out with a win easily. I’m hoping you all prove them wrong.

I’m sorry to say but Utah wins 31-21 or something like that.

If I were you, I would take the loss and move on to the next game.

I think the heat and humidity is going to stop them. If we were talking a November match up I'd probably lean towards Utah. I think Florida takes this one.

Not just because we play UF week 2, but this is one of the games I’m looking forward to the most just to see what Florida looks like against a good Utah team

Less than a FG spread for a #7 team vs a NR team tells you how dumb preseason rankings actually are.

I may be biased against UF (okay... I'm almost certainly biased against UF)... but I really don't see much to be excited about on their team this year. I don't see many playmakers and I don't see much depth. They're relying on a QB who statistically wasn't very good last year to carry them.

While I do think the location matters, I just don't see UF being very good. And given that, I expect them to lose here. It feels like for UF to win, Utah would have to make mistakes and lose the game. I think they're flat out better overall.

This applies more to the NFL than College ball, but home dogs are one of the few plays where Vegas is traditionally vulnerable.

Give me the Gators and the hook.

I hate this is a night game. Hopefully it wasn't our decision.

If Utah beats UF in Gainesville, they will definitely be the team to beat in the Pac Twelve.

But, I agree with the OP... Utah can't win in Gainesville.

I understand the Pac 12 has some loud and even some cool stadiums. But the Swamp is a different kind of animal than any of them know.

Utah -2.5 is one of the easiest bets of opening weekend. That’s a strong squad.

That line is such a square trap, makes me feel a little too confident

They traveled well last year and ended the season 10-2. Whittington is a good coach and will have Utah ready so they have to be taken seriously. I still believe we get the W.
