16 was never on the table

It adds to many more games to the end of the regular season.
8 is the right amount

Oh joy, 3 loss teams that didn’t win a conference or even a division are going to claim titles again.

At this point I don't care what they do or don't do anymore.

16 is at least 12 teams too many

I’d hate to see the 4 team playoff go. I felt like they finally got it right.

I personally think they got it wrong when you have 5 conferences competing for 4 slots. &, as we've seen, some get multiple slots.

16 team playoff is a talking point from B10 Warren trying to be relevant. He had to make it sound like he was involved in the future of CFB but still trying to pick up the pieces after the SEC became the only major factor in the CFB landscape.

I figured aTm would like the larger expansion since it’s a lot easier getting in a 16 team playoff when you’re 8-4

If it has to expand, I think 12 is the sweet spot. The teams that made it through with 0 or 1 losses should have a chance at a bye
It really shouldn’t expand though. Most years both semis are blowouts

Go to six teams with the first and second-ranked teams getting a bye week. (Anything above that is just stupid.)

I don’t care about conferences. I care about the 4 best teams getting the top 4 spots.

I’m sure its all TV driven and by asking for 16 they’ll “settle” for 8 (which TV would be happy with).
If they expand it too much then the little teams who make their whole season fund raising on a one game payoff to play a P5 team wouod get destroyed. Because to add games at end of year means subtracting games at start of year. Game inventory would go down overall and the lesser schools would suffer the most.

Actually an expanded playoff makes this less likely

Why not go back to 2?

Question I always ask when it comes to a larger playoff field is this:
"Would you watch every game?"
(Yeah, me too.)

Happened more than once in our own conference yet they went on to win

While I understand that, some teams shouldn't be punished by their conference schedule...something they have no control over.
