0.062? I don't have my chart at the moment, but I think that equates to about one beer maybe 45 minutes before the test.

The kid is a menace to society.

Also why have a loaded gun in the car even if it isnt illegal in Texas?

I dont think hes a menace to society. I also dont think its something that should just be swept under the rug. Its about following the rules and being accountable. .062 isnt bad. The guy probably deserves a beer or more but he has to be smart about it. Theres no excuse to drink and drive these days with Uber and the other options.

As far as the gun, you can claim the Bill of Rights on that one, but I would bet my next paycheck that he didnt go into Academy and buy that gun himself. He's probably trying to look like a badass to his buddies or something. That or he is messing around in things that he shouldnt and its for protection. Both are stupid

BAC was 0.66 (under legal limit) but failed field sobriety tests. Most likely was high, but that’s drawing my own conclusions.

He had a joint (0.29 grams of marijuana?) I believe. Misdemeanor.

You can carry a loaded and chambered weapon in your vehicle in Texas. People that don’t know the law or don’t know anything about guns tend to try to make that sound scary. It becomes unlawful when you are driving under the influence, which the officer deemed he was. Hence the unlawful possession of a firearm charge.

Any one of those things aren’t bad on it’s own. Put them all together, and it’s pretty damn stupid. Regardless of your views on marijuana, the law is the law and you should know better.

agreed. I have a loaded firearm in my vehicle at all times, too, but I also live in a state with constitutional carry (and had a carry permit regardless)

Will they team vote when he runs over someone because he was high or drunk? Just curious about your team rules.

Handgun in car (legal in Texas)

Is it when you have drugs too? If he purchased the handgun under an FFL then he had to swear he was not a user of drugs. Being intoxicated with drugs AND a handgun is a little more serious than you are insinuating.

Do you really believe there are rules?
There are no rules, just a loose set of guidelines that can be adjusted as need be.

Put them both together and it's probably a felony.

At least it is in Louisiana.

Is this like a Cam Newton/Kristi Malzahn type situation?

Texas A&M football has always had thugs that get away with everything.

We grow outstanding young men at THE UT.
