Now that the OSU regional is over a few thoughts…

The fact that AU had to travel 2500 plus miles cross country two time zones away and had to stay in a hotel over an hour away from campus is complete garbage. Anyone hosting a regional or super regional should have adequate onsite facilities to accommodate the teams playing. NCAA needs to correct this moving forward.

I am in agreement, not so much with the travel distance, but staying in a hotel with a one hour drive to the stadium is ridiculous.

Doesn’t any decent sized college town have plenty of hotel options?
I mean, A&M could get a little tough to find something back in the 80’s, and I’m sure football weekends are an issue anywhere, but in the second week of June?
Mebbe somebody was just trying to max out their points or something.

Corvallis isn't far from Euguene IIRC and they should've had options

Was this their only option or did the coaches want them away to avoid any college type distractions. I know on FB games Bama does not stay in Auburn but in Montgomery right. A lot of teams flying into play Bama will stay in bham

Auburn routinely stays in Montgomery, the night before it's home football games. Almost an hour away.

Corvallis is notorious for being 1) very hard to get to and 2) exceptionally spartan in accomodations.
they should never host for logistical reasons.

But in that case you are talking about one game. Here it is three games. Not a huge deal but still just another inconvenience for the road team. Kudos to Auburn for overcoming difficult odds to beat Oregon State.

Dude, Auburn winning that super is fking HUGE,
Those guys are really good and you beat them. Now I have to wonder if Auburn might not be peaking at just the right time. Amazing Super win!

what a DA comment. So a 3 national seed should not host? U cant be serious clark?
There are a lot of universities in smaller towns.

Yeah, but that is 1 night. Two if the staff wants an extra day of no distractions.
With this type of scenario, the team could be there 4 or 5 days. I had no idea this was going on, but it is kinda ridiculous.

That’s gotta make winning it that much sweeter

The hotels in Corvallis were not available. Apparently the rooms were gobbled up by fans before AU knew they were going.
This was discussed at length on Saturday night during the broadcast. OSU should’ve been forced to block 30 rooms as a host team. Not that difficult.

The ESPN announcers were also staying an hour away.

To get away from campus and the shenanigans, and get the players focus on the upcoming game. I imagine visiting teams also stay out of town. I'd also be willing to bet money, that even if rooms were available in Corvalis, Auburn still would have elected to stay in another town.

I thought they said that the rooms were all booked for the NCAA track championships in Eugene 45 min north.
Regardless, dude linking an expedia website with room availability now is hilarious. One, what is available now isn't what was available last weekend. And the schools don't arrange for the teams hotels in NCAA competition. The NCAA makes those arrangements. Not to mention, an entire baseball team with coaches, trainers, and support staff need more than a few rooms

How is Dichiara? Looked like he might have tweaked his hamstring going around second yesterday. Hope he's 100% for the Series.

Little different. Baseball games get delayed for hours at times. Baseball teams would prefer to be near wherever they're playing so they have somewhere to go if there's a several hour delay. They don't typically just hang out in the dugout for hours. What football teams do or don't do isn't really comparable.
