Out of curiosity I looked up what Kentucky basketball has done for a comparison. We've gone to 38 Elite 8s, there have been 82 NCAA tournaments.
So the NCAAT has seen 38 Elite 8s with Kentucky and 44 without. I think that helps put things in perspective when folks say how does Texas only have 6 baseball titles. We've only managed 8 basketball titles.
These sports aren't football where you've been gifted a title based on a vote, or right in to the title game or now where it's a Final Four.

Took the championship from us in 1975 and 2002. They have 2 of their 6 against us.

LSU winning the same amount of titles with less than half of the amount of CWS appearances trumps this, as remarkable as it is.>>>>>Cramps
you aggies will muck up any conversation with the slightest Texas spin. y’all are shooting 100 % in this thread. never the less using your logic; texas trumps trumps trumps trumps trumps trumps anm.
if you take away 30 of our appearances we still have more than aggie. if you take away FIVE of our championships we still have more than aggy. if you take away all our CWS wins except for last year alone, we still have more than aggy.
see aggy doesn’t even belong on this thread.

Just wish we had more than 6 trophies to go with that.
Omaha is an unbelievable experience that should never be taken for granted. It's also heartbreaking for 7 teams each year.
2 of those came against the Gamecocks...sadface

including one against Stanford with a game winning walkoff HR in the bottom of the 9th down one run with a full count to a pinch hitter who had hit hit 2 homers his whole career. The shot heard around the world, there is a 30 for 30 on it.
quote:Agreed. Last two times Texas won their opener was in 2005 and 2009. They made it to the championship series both years. Since, they're 0-4 in the opening round (2011, 2014, 2018 and 2021).
I will just say this one if teams that wins it’s first game will win it all, that’s almost always true, that’s the key
You get a day off regardless of whether you win or lose your first two games (and obviously the rest of the season off if you lose both). So it's not as imperative as starting 1-0 or 2-0 in a regional. However, it's still imperative to be in the catbird seat after 2 games and have your opponent be playing their 4th game as you play your third.

Do not like Texas but that's impressive. Vols should take note.

Good lord, can you atleast learn how to properly quote a post before attempting to muster up another witless retort?
I clearly acknowledged the stat and how great of an accomplishment it is. Sorry your skin is too thin to accept that without getting in your feels about it, but you nor others, including certain Aggie posters, aren't the arbiters of acceptable commentary on here. Keep pretending though.
In fact I'm sure some here weren't aware of what I mentioned about LSU (6 titles in 18 appearances), just to follow up on OP's post and put said stat into perspective.

Yes, insane. Quite insane.
How about another insane stat?
Texas has only won the whole enchilada 6 times outta 38 tries.
That comes out to a winning percentage of 0.1579%. Insane. Insane, indeed.
Compare that to the USC Trojans 21 appearances in the CWS and winning it 12 times.
That's a winning percentage of winning it all of 0.5714%. Incredible. Incredible, indeed.
So what if the Trojans haven't made it to the CWS since 2001.

I’m not sure if it is more impressive making more than half the all time college world series ever played or more underwhelming to only have 6 titles in that many appearances. Truly a bizarre stat
How is winning 16.2% of the time in an 8 team field "bizarre" ?

Stfu - you’ve gotten mostly kind words in this thread (including Aggies). Don’t get your panties in a wad.

1. stop taking everything so personally. Just because a rival fanbase posts something doesn't automatically mean it's trying to take a shot at Texas.
2. You have got to learn how to quote properly. It's incredibly simple, and would at least make your drivel somewhat legible.

There have been some short dry spells but Omaha is truly expected of every Texas team every year.
Same thing for LSU and a few others but it’s really engrained historically in the Texas program and they seem to sense that when the regionals start.
The future SEC is looking like an absolute beast in baseball, but I must say I miss the SoCal schools like Fullerton, Irvine and occasionally LB State and Pepperdine making runs. Those programs are fun to follow when they’re good.

Again to point out that with 8 teams one would expect to win 12.5% of the time

I did exactly that not long ago, JUST FOR YOU as a matter of fact. Then this phone updated itself. So you’re simply going to be forced to live with it.

Only 6 does sting at times. But baseball is baseball. Moving backward from the present we had good chances last year, 2009 (props to LSU) and 2004 really stings even though we avenged it the next year. 2004 being the Fullerton loss when they just really found a way to get us despite us probably being the best team that year. 2004 team may have been better than the 2002 and 2005 title teams.
Ole Miss didn't deserve to have Texas in their super regional in 05 - both were legit top 5 teams and should have both been in Omaha.
Not gonna piss and moan about bad metaphorical bounces this way and that way through the years but 1985 will forever be loathed since CBS decided they were going to change the finals format. Wichita State beat us having lost a game, we hadn't - and there's no way they were going to win a second with the pitcher we would have had.
Most Texas fans want that 7th dogpile badly. Nobody is fooling anybody - we'd love to break the 6-6 tie with LSU and with all those appearances it's understandable to want more natties in the trophy case.
It's not just USC that has fallen into irrelevance - the 90's and turn of the century it wasn't unusual to have a lot of west coast teams involved - Pepperdine, Irvine, Long Beach, Fullerton - oddly enough it's the pacific northwest with OSU and rising teams such as Gonzaga who are taking their place. Stanford is the only one who really remains quite consistent.
