It was a commercial for a loan company. Brock said who he was and that he played for the University of Georgia, that he had used this company and had a good experience with it, and recommended it to other people. To me, this was how NIL was supposed to work. Someone who had earned respect and popularity on the field could make a commercial for some company and get paid for it. This seems very different to me than just giving somebody who has never played $100,000 to come eat at your restaurant or whatever. I'm sure there are more football players doing straight up commercials like this but this is the first one I have heard.

Bowers is very good, I’d be sure he’s made quite comfortable….

How much should he have been compensated for that radio spot?

How much work has to be done until you feel someone has earned the $100k?

None of this can ever be clearly defined.

just a different way of funneling cash to players arranged by the same people have arranged it all along

he was the best TE in america last year as a TFr, I think any pay for actual work (in this case a radio spot) would be justified.

OP was sayign taht at least this is merited, unlike freshman coming in straight from HS that haven't played a snap yet that are getting 7 figures.

That wasn't my point. Bowers' performance at UGA made him worth whatever that company decided he was worth for that commercial. That's different from offering money to recruits who've never played a down to induce them to come to school IMO.

So he was basically calling out the Bryce young arrangement, among others?

How much football should someone have to play, and how well should they play before you feel that it’s justified?

Should we have a committee approve these deals?

Me personally? I don't think players should be getting paid period so my answer N/A.

Value is whatever someone is willing to pay, just like dumbass art paintings. If a company wants to pay Brock $10K or $1M that's their choice.

At least your schtick is consistent.

1957 Shugee and probation
1980’s Dye and probation
1990’s Tater Tot and probation on top of probation
2010 Scam and the “ongoing” investigation

The illiterate James Brooks, Keven Ramsey, Bobby Lowder, bowl bans, SECC ineligibility, keeping it down home cuz, Catfish fry cooks, #1 most penalized team in ncaa history but cheating ain’t winning huh?

Try a little self awareness.

Let’s assume for a moment this was a rule.

What does this change? 5* takes a snap in garbage time in late august against directional U, signs a $100k NIL deal (which he's known for months was coming) the next day?

Bryce was offered NIL deals between his freshman and sophomore seasons, not as a high school recruit.

I agree too. However they are paying Brock as a signed player and not a recruit. Big difference

He attempted 22 passes in garbage time in 2020.

“7 figures” is reasonable compensation for that?
