can be as dominant and talked about as our 2021 defense. Should be fun to watch.

A defense like that combined with this offense should be very fun to watch

Our offense was pretty damn good last year too, it just wasn't talked about because of the generational level of our defense and a ridiculous QB controversy. In the majority of our games last year, our offense obliterated people in the first half, then ran clock in second half. Could have named our score against the majority of our opponents. It will be the same this year, I predict.

I agree also if we have a successful season I wonder how hard it is going to be to keep Monken around.. pretty sure someone is gonna try to scoop him up or he heads back to the nfl if an opening comes along, I’ve really enjoyed his schemes and seems to gel just right in the mold for us

I'm usually a pretty big sunshine pumper, but this is simply ludicrous. Our 2021 defense was the best we've ever fielded and one of the better overall defenses in CFB in decades. Our 2022 offense should be just fine but it's not going to go down as one of hte best in CFB history, and almost certainly won't be the best we've ever fielded. I'm not even sure it'll be our best offense in the last 5 years.

Our offense will never put up all time overall traditional stats because our D will never consistently force them to play 60 minutes.

Monken had multiple opportunities to leave this offseason.
It appears he is enjoying Athens right now.

Even if it is *our* best offense in modern history (unlikely, but let's go with it for a second)... it is *highly unlikely* to be anything remotely resembling some of the impressive CFB offenses of the past 10 years or so.
FWIW, Glory, UGA Podcast host Tyler seems to feel like this will likely be our best offense under Kirby, and possibly better than any of the Richt offenses as well IIRC... I'm not on that page, but I can at least understand how someone could make the leap with Todd Monken doing Monken things and the TE room looking incredible. But it's definitely laughable to try and compare this year's offense to last year's defense. All time top tier D unit in CFB vs *maybe* a top O unit at a program not known for blowing the scoreboard away.

IIRC our best offense ever was the 2012 or maybe 2013 statistically. Aside from not having a Gurley at rb, literally every other offensive position is better except for possibly guard. Our receivers now are better but the big gap is tight end. This group compared to Artie Lynch and Jay Rome is just unfair.
But the other factor is the defense. Even in 2012 we weren’t great on defense, so we had to score a lot. Even after losing so much, I don’t see our defense plummeting because of the stockpile of talent Kirby accumulates. That being said, this offense could be better, but because of need, never statistically reach 2012/13 numbers.

2014
Hutson Mason throwing to our 3 headed monster (chris conley, michael bennett, and malcolm mitchell). We had gurley before his suspension/acl running the rock and chubb.

I doubt it. Our 2021 defense was the defensive version of what 2020 Alabama was on offense, especially considering the era they play in.

It potentially COULD be, but I think just on paper and roster-wise 2018 would be the frontrunner over this year.
Junior Fromm with fields as backup
Deandre swift/and holyfield/herrien/cook at RB
riley ridley, godwin, mecole, jj holloman at WR
nauta at TE
2 1st round picks at the tackle spots in thomas/wilson
cleveland/kinley/jamaree/shaffer inside
That was a really damn good offense

I'm still convinced they would have put 45+ on Alabama in the SECCG if Hot Rod didn't miss that chip shot FG to go up 31-14. That play flipped that entire game.

It really did. I recall Nauta busting free to move deep into Alabama territory and I legit started to tear up because I thought it was dagger time.
As soon Rod missed you could feel the shift.

Conversely, when we blocked their field goal everyone started to get that National Championship feeling. Except the Alabama sideline.

I really don't think we fall off very far at all. I'm ready!
