Ok...maybe not the best "about" a town in SEC Country...but the best that "mentions or takes place" in one.
A Boy Named Sue (Gatlinburg)
ETA
Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July
And I just hit town and my throat was dry
Thought I'd stop and have myself a brew
At an old saloon on a street of mud
There at a table, dealing stud
Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me Sue

I think Jackson with the duet of June and Cash was referring to Jackson, Tennessee.

Actually, the best song about a city in SEC Country IMHO,
That's How I Got to Memphis - Tom T. Hall

If it has to be about a town... I really like Rocky Top... no idea why and I'm sure that's not a popular opinion.
Not about a town, but "Sweet Home Alabama" probably wins this... I say that in spite of AL playing it at all of their games. That song gets airtime from California to Florida to NYC and everywhere in between.
It's not SEC country but I'm partial to "Country Roads" by John Denver... Even though it's about West Virginia that song gets my blood flowin!
Edit: Solid offseason thread!

Jackson is about Tennessee, not Mississippi. Southern baw man card [REVOKED] Its where Carl Perkins is from. Cmon dude.
As for tGOAT state Kentucky, Id say the 3 most well known are:
"Kentucky Rain" - Elvis
"My Old Kentucky Home" - Stephen Foster
And of course, the greatest bluegrass song ever "Blue Moon of Kentucky" - Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys
Not sure about city or town songs for us. Ill have to think on that.
