General assumptions about the NBA Draft - use the latest ESPN Mock Draft and assume the Top 40 (1st round plus possible 1st) from their team for 2022-23:

#3 Jabari Smith (Auburn)
#6 Shaedon Sharpe (Kentucky)
#14 TyTy Washington (Kentucky)
#15 Tari Eason (LSU)
#16 Kennedy Chandler (Tennessee)
#24 Walker Kessler (Auburn)
#38 JD Davison (Alabama)

1. Arkansas
2. Kentucky
3. Tennessee
4. Alabama
5. Texas A&M
6. Auburn
7. Vanderbilt
8. Mississippi State
9. Florida
10. LSU
11. Ole Miss
12. Georgia
13. South Carolina
14. Missouri

That might be too high depending on who leaves. Quinton Jackson is irreplaceable right now.

If Jaylin Williams leaves for the NBA, the Hogs will need to be dropped a spot or two.

I hate setting base expectations so sky high, but it's hard not to going into next year. Just gotta see how the team gels. I'm plum giddy with excitement to see how Muss game plans with a team full of 5 stars.

There’s a chance Walker Kessler returns, which is still under consideration, but I expect Auburn to be better than #6 in the SEC.

Thinking we hold on to Christian Wright, Braelen Bridges, Jabri Abdur-Rahim and Jaxon. Kario is gone.

Everyone else will be told to take a hike.

We will get PJ Horne and Jailyn Ingram back from injury, also thinking we get 2 of UF’s old commits.

We will go to the portal for anything else, which means best case scenario next year is:

PG- Transfer
G- Transfer
G/F- Malik Reneau
F- Ingram
C- Bridges

6- Horne
7- Jabri
8- Etter
9- Wright
10. Jalen Reed
11-14: Transfer/Freshmen

Needless to say Matt McMahon is going scorched earth on the portal already. Landed NWST's top player to start which isn't bad.

We could have some extremely dangerous teams next year. The question is how badly does the selection committee knock us for a less than splendid NCAAT? Never mind the Big 10 flaming out in epic fashion, they'll remember the SEC landed exactly one team in the Elite 8 and Arkansas was probably the least respected team in the country despite knocking off the Zags.

I see three, possibly even four, teams that have a legit shot, if they stay healthy and get hot, of making the Final Four next year and that is nothing to sneer at.

Our best shooter sat and watched the whole season due to surgery. One of the elite players in he country sat our bench and watched because Cal thought it best.

If they were to come back (Fredrick/Sharpe), and Tshiebwe returns with Toppin, Ware, Brooks, Wheeler, and the 2 legit 5* players Livingston and Wallace.

Add a transfer or two, and we should be just fine.

Let's also look back at last years prediction. Doing this before the portal makes no sense and does not include Coaching Ability.

SEC Preseason Media Poll
1. Kentucky (Tied for second)

2. Alabama (Tied for 5th, with 5 teams)

3. Arkansas (4th)

4. Tennessee (2nd)

5. Auburn (Champion, Plus 4 spots)

6. LSU (5)

7. Florida (5)

8. Mississippi State (10)

9. Ole Miss (13)

10. Missouri (12)

11. South Carolina (5)

12. Texas A&M (5)

13. Vanderbilt (11)

14. Georgia (14)

Let’s all keep putting Auburn in the middle of the pack.

Eventually, people will learn.

I think Tennessee will probably be the best team in the league from beginning to end due to continuity. 4 starters and 8 of the top 10 back off a team that was 7th in Torvik and 10th at KenPom. If they don’t finish in the top 2-3 in the league I will be very surprised. But probably not going to be the most dangerous team in March based on history.

We’ll see how they handle the little roster turnover they will have but seems like they feel pretty quietly confident about Phillips. Do they push Powell out to make room for another PG or stand pat beyond that?

Zeigler/Edwards
Vescovi/Powell
James/Phillips
Nkamhoua/Huntley Hatfield
Aidoo/Plavsic

Or

Portal PG/Zeigler
Vescovi/Mashack
James/Phillips
Nkamhoua/Huntley Hatfield
Aidoo/Plavsic

You could put 5-9 in any order and not be wrong.
