1996 LSU Tigers???....

-- finished 52-17, 20-10 in the conference

-- national champions

2011 South Carolina Gamecocks???...

-- finished 55-14, 22-8 in the conference

-- national champions

-- first team in NCAAA history to go 10-0 in the post-season

-- set 2 NCAA records: post-season wins (10), consecutive CWS wins (11)

My vote goes to 2011 SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS. This team would rank among the best to ever win the CWS, too, imo.

Are there any other SEC teams you think are worthy of consideration?

Appreciate the love. Those teams for us just clicked.

I am not sure that team was the best USC team even. Things clicked for them, and they gelled at the right time.

I am sure there are several teams that were better that didnt win the title

I wanna say our overall post season win streak was (22) from 2010 to 2012 which is pretty good

That 2011 team had some freaky good defensive plays in the CWS against Virginia and Florida.

That 2011 team was awesome, but it's probably a stretch to label them as the best all-time SEC baseball team.

If you go by talent alone you gotta include '85 Mississippi State

LSU's 1997 team was better than the 1996 team.

57-13, 22-7 in the SEC, national champs

LSU's 2009 was arguably better too.

And "best" team is arbitrary. Some of the best teams in SEC history didn't win a national title. The nature of the sport results in the best team not always winning the national title. LSU and Vandy in 2013, for instance.

The Covid year Vols were the best Vols team in my lifetime.

The 1997 LSU team if we're talking hitting.

2011 South Carolina was just incredible in the way they played defense and always had the clutch hit.

2019 Vanderbilt once Rocker was going rolled almost everyone in the postseason.

2000 LSU baseball was pretty awesome. 52-17 overall, 19-10 in conference. Undefeated in post-season play. Outscored opponents in post-season play 146-57.

I'm not sure Carolina's 2011 team could beat the 2000 Gamecock ball club in a weekend series.

50-6 regular season and set the SEC record for wins at 25-5. Carolina was the overall #1 seed in the NCAAT before WTF'ing against ULaLa at Sarge Frye in a still-to-this-day shocking Super Regional loss.

Gamecocks 25-5 SEC best ever record in 2000 stood until Vanderbilt went 26-3 in 2013.

these teams have to be in the mix ...

1985 Mississippi State
1996 or 1997 LSU
2009 & 2013 LSU
2011 Florida
2013 & 2014 Vanderbilt
eta - 1997 Alabama

That 2011 South Carolina team was fun to watch, for sure. All those Ray Tanner teams played sound baseball.
