I’d like to know. If UGA decided to take basketball seriously, new arena, bball specific facilities, top flight coaching staff. What would it take?

It's not about the arena, it's about people in the seats in the arena. Georgia just doesn't have a big basketball culture.

You have to get lucky and hire a great coach. Bruce fell into Auburn’s lap.

Duke had to give Zions parents a million dollar home. No telling what else they got.

So Id say probably $5 million a year for a couple years to buy a championship.

Not hiring a guy who couldn't even win with Indiana's resources is a smart start

There is no reason whatsoever Georgia shouldn't be a basketball powerhouse. You are near a major recruiting hotbed. All it would take is a major commitment.

Honestly you don’t need any money, you need a certified Top 5 NBA draft pick (probably big) and maybe a 2nd rounder (guard) to commit and build around, so two one and dones, to be probably a top 15 team

It begins with culture, What Ruby posted is most like the most truth you will find.

Finding a coach who will win with the current culture and aid in changing that perception is key. 1-2 great players, with the right coach can turn the program around much faster than with football, and even baseball overall.

Muss has brought the energy back to a place that was hungry for success once more. We have experienced it whole heartedly and lost it with a bang. From the Stan heath, Pel experience to Mike Anderson bringing passion back at least to this has been a ride.

Find that coach.. invest in his plan and program, but vet him well. Make sure his plan is based on outcomes and goals that will be able to be seen and adjusted. Then you will have the beginning of a great program. ALong with this coach comes a few wins, momentum, facilities, etc.

I'm not really sure but it's an excellent question.

While I could try and guess, to get the real answer ask Bruce Pearl and Will Wade. They definitely know.
