We're in our 31st season of SEC basketball since Arkansas and S. Carolina joined the league, here are how many championships each program has since then:
29- Kentucky (13 RS, 16 SEC T)
10- Florida (6 RS, 4 SEC T)
4- LSU (4 RS, 0 SEC T)
4- Miss St. (1 RS, 3 SEC T)
3- Alabama (2 RS, 1 SEC T)
3- Arkansas (2 RS, 1 SEC T)
3- Auburn (2 RS, 1 SEC T)
3- Tennessee (3 RS, 0 SEC T)
2- Vanderbilt (1 RS, 1 SEC T)
1- Georgia (0 RS, 1 SEC T)
1- Ole Miss (0 RS, 1 SEC T)
1- S. Carolina (1 RS, 0 SEC T)
1- Texas A&M (1 RS, 0 SEC T)
Observations:
1. Kentucky has dominated
2. Amazing that 13 of 14 programs have won a Championship during this time frame, and the one without one (Mizzou) has only been in the league since 2013.
3. Pretty surprising that neither LSU or Tennessee has won an SEC Touranment
4. Florida has for sure been the #2 most successful program, but all 10 of those Championships were claimed between 2000 and 2014. Unless something crazy happens this season, this will be the 8th consecutive season without a Florida men's basketball SEC title.

Doesnt Tennessee have the longest SEC Tourney title drought of all the teams who were original members?

Tennessee hasn't won an SECT since 1979 (they've won 4 regular season titles since then).
LSU hasn't won an SECT since 1980 (they've won 7 regular season titles since then and been to 3 Final Fours).

Auburn beat TN in the 2019 finals to end our own ridiculous drought.

Damnit. They actually have won something after all.

I know you have been trying to forget 71-38, which happened in the SEC Tournament that season.
In that game, LSU went 12:27 without making a field goal, a span that saw A&M outscore them 27-2.

That was the first year of the renewal. I was a JR in HS and went to most of those games. It was a weird format. The first two seeds (which turned out to be 1. LSU and 2. Tennessee) received a two game bye.
The tourney that year and some amazing games. Kentucky defeated Alabama, 101-100 in regulation in the second round. Later that evening Auburn and Georgia played a four overtime game that Georgia never led. Georgia's Walter Daniels played with a lot of heart as his dad had died the night before. He had driven to Macon and talked with his family and decided to come back to Birmingham and play.
In the "semifinals" Kentucky crushed LSU and Tennessee pulled away from Auburn. Tennessee then beat UK in OT for the title. Like now -- I guess-- the SEC never sold individual tickets. It was booklet or bust. So attendance was "okay."

I was at the 2019 semi between UK and UT in Nashville… one of the coolest atmospheres I’ve experienced

Kentucky’s ability to dominate in the Tourney is damn impressive. Looking at the list, it seems like nearly everyone else should have at least one more tournament title based on program success…except for Miss State.

People are always surprised we have a halfway decent basketball history. Nothing great But we’ve been to ncaa tournament a decent amount of times, went to a final four, won a regular season title, several sec tourney titles and been a top 5 seed several times. Stansbury years were fairly consistent until he let Renardo Sidney nuke our program

The SECT isn't a championship, imo. It's just for the bid and nothing else.

That's true.
What's also true is:
LSU hadn't won an SECT until 1980.

It is pretty wild - goes to show what a crapshoot it can be.

It's it's own thing, for sure. If you are competitive you want to win it, but not at the expense of messing things up for the NCAAT.
The regular season title matters much, much more in terms of accomplishment for the season IMHO.

Auburn moving up quick this year.

It is wild, but I got better odds at the table than 1 tournament in 61 attempts. I'll take the crapshoot.
Last year, LSU was the runner up to Alabama by a score of 79-80.
