Media coverage isn't even fun anymore.

Not here to say media coverage sucks or whatever but there is no thoughtful discussion of the game. Everyone is regurgitating the same boring storyline that UGA was unmotivated and will play much better defense. No thought to how the game could play out otherwise. I appreciate YouTube coverage like CFBnerds but I don't even want to listen to actual coverage anymore. Used to be fun. It's a shame.

The media wants Georgia to win. It's obvious listening to ESPN and the like. I just have a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that something like what happened in 2016 against Clemson will happen. I hope that I'm wrong.

The media doesn't particularly care who wins as long as they have eyeballs on the screen.

The country has already seen Alabama vs. Georgia a month ago. We've seen this movie, already, and we know how it ends.

To get people to tune in for a second time, they have to pump up Georgia.

It's the only way to get people outside of Alabama and Georgia to watch the CFP Championship Game instead of whatever show is trending on Netflix.

The media doesn't care about anything except ratings. That's their game. That's their bottom line.

I still remember how the media hyped up Notre Dame in 2013 and how all kinds of people thought they legitimately had a shot at winning... until the second Alabama offensive series of the game.

Now, UGA has a better shot that ND did- much better.

But, the media's narrative from now until Monday will be that what you saw in the SECCG isn't what you'll see Monday night.

It has to be. Or else they get no viewers.

I would assume the ratings will be down bc it is so regional so they have to create a narrative

We only get to see the coordinators twice a year and the reporters ask the same lazy arse questions both pressers. I fricking hate college football reporters. They loathe the sport and still cover it.

Look at the bright side of what the media is spewing. Coach Saban says that kind of rat poison is "yummy."

I’m sorry I’m not a reporter. I’d ask the hard questions.

Me: Hey Bill, this is UASprotz23. Did it hurt?

BoB: did what hurt?

Me: did it hurt when you fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch including the tiny one which impelled your chin?

College Football media is by far the most miserable collection of douchebags in media. You’re right in that they really do despise the sport.

Media coverage has been this way for years. It's why I don't watch ESPN or any other sports channel except for games, and even then I don't watch till kickoff, or if I turn it on a few minutes early, I turn down the sound till kickoff.

They create talking points out of bullshite, and most of the announcers and especially the sideline reporters are fkn clueless about the game.

Generally true but Bama winning another NC and the media losing eyeballs on the screen probably go hand in hand in their mind. Bama fatigue is for real. If Bama wins its SEVENTH NC in 13 years with another stacked team lined up for next year, can you imagine how sick of Bama people will be?

I think a lot of them resent that they aren't covering the NFL.

This is exactly what concerns me. The media and everyone outside of Tuscaloosa is tired of seeing us win. ESPN has been hyping up Georgia all year long. David Pollack and Elle Duncan are UGA alums. The SECCG was supposed to be the end of our season and a coronation for Georgia's national championship run. What we did was not expected. I fully anticipate Alabama to be penalized more than UGA in this game.

Been happening for a while now.

This year Alabama is 109th in penalty yards/game.

Alabama is 93rd in opponent penalty yards/game.

You want both of these rankings low by the way. The above means we are one of the most penalized teams in the country and our opponents are one of the least penalized teams in the country in terms of yard/game.

Perhaps Bama is just very undisciplined and just happens to play very disciplined opponents.

Well, I could say something but I would be labeled a conspiracy theorist. Bottom line is, the officials are flag happy with us more so than opposing teams. The Auburn game is a good example. Roger McCreary was literally mugging our receivers all day and was never penalized. Jobe doesn't turn around and look for the ball and the side judge throws a flag. It's totally insane. That is why I fully expect Georgia to target our corners. If not for a completion then for a penalty.

given that bama db's cant just run beside a wr without getting a pi called on them, yeah bama fatigue is real. i cant imagine the penalties called on bama had meechigan been the opponent. i'm guessing bama doubles up uga in penalty yards. but its as important when the flag is thrown as how much. we will see.

Does anyone recall what the ratings were for Bama UGA 4 years ago? I imagine not very good with it being a regional / interconference matchup. The media is trying its best to get eyeballs on the screen.

Looking at the penalty disparity between Alabama and Clemson in the first national championship game that we lost. Clemson had three penalties for 35 yards and Alabama had nine for 82 yards. And we all know about the blatant pick plays that the officials somehow missed.

The Clemson offense ran 100 plays against arguably the best defensive front 7 of the past 25 years and didn’t get called for a single holding call…..

Strange, isn't it ? Not really. Will Anderson gets held on every play. Literally every play. Jameson Williams was interfered with by the Georgia defensive backs in the second quarter of the SECCG and the officials didn't throw a flag. Even Danielson and Nessler commented about it.

The last Natty between them was a BIG tv draw.
