But the damn team was a no show…

- Notae needs to go back to coming off the bench. I’m not seeing the same pop or something as last year.

- I’m not sure who, but surely we have a 3 point specialist on this team. Robinson should be that guy IMO but he isn’t getting minutes.

- The ball needs to be forced through Toney and Williams on offense. End of Story. Toney had not near enough touches today.

- Someone has to be the shut down D guy. Right now Arkansas doesn’t play any defense…so team defense may be a better start…

- Just stop with the Vanover minutes. Yes, it’s cool he is tall and he will win the tip every time…but those 4-5 minutes he plays to start the game need to go to someone else. We continually start games slow, and a spark is needed.

- The officials were absolutely horrible today…but that’s not why we lost.

- Not sure how it sounded on TV, but hog fans did their part and were loud

- If Muss can’t get things fixed, this is a .500 SEC schedule team, which ends up around an 8-10 NCAAt.

Agreed

Yep it’s painfully obvious that he is a full step too slow out there on defense

This team misses Justin Smith. Big time. We need more toughness down low and I don't see that on this team.

Also we only went 7 deep on the team. That's a problem. Robinson could have been a spark. Someone else might have been able to dribble without A) Losing the ball, B) Tripping over their own feet, or C) jacking up a shot 3 feet inside the arc.

This team has some weaknesses. It will be interesting to see how the lineups change as we progress through this season.

What did Muss promise Lykes? Sheesh

KK needs a chance to prove he can’t do better.

I’m sure he wanted to get his life going but he could have made some decent money on that NIL.

Looking at the roster, this team looked small against Oklahoma.

He’s sucked arse every time he’s been on the floor.

You think that isn’t how it is in practice?

KK is the only player on the team who has shown the ability to shoot deep with consistency, and I don't know why he isn't playing.

He must be abysmal on defense, but, with what we're putting out there now, I don't know how it gets much worse. I'm of the mindset, if we're going to suck on defense anyway, might as well throw out a bunch of scorers and shooters.

If we're

Why Twiggy was allowed to stay was absolutely on Muss.

Toney can be that guy, but only if he touches the ball. Someone has to feed him.

Agree that we need more toughness down low. We also need to finish better. JWill missed an uncontested layup under the basket that should have been a dunk for a 6'10 player. Can't do that.

I love Muss but I am curious if this is the way we are going to be with him- kinda Kentucky in style. Some years the team gels and it’s pretty awesome and some years it just doesn’t.

Maybe that’s how it will be now with NIL/grad transfer stuff anyway. And if so, I could probably learn to deal with it assuming there would be some great years but just more curious if that’s the way college basketball will be going more than anything.

And to your point on the fans yesterday- they were great. Had potential to be amazing but the team didn’t do its part to help.

Still way too early, the team didn't really gel till almost February last year.

Yes and no I think. If he can keep getting recruits and we will always have the team chemistry for the most part. It becomes harder when you bring in 4-5 portal guys each year. It’s very risky like the 1 and done cycle at Kentucky.

If he can build it through recruiting and then pluck 1-2 transfer per year that’s more ideal for continued success.

I wouldn't like the constant abuse of the portal each year because that causes slow starts with team chemistry being an issue. Arkansas had that problem yesterday because no one knows what roles to play.

I agree. I think it’s built through recruiting. Which we hopefully have starting next year and we can continue to build on.

I keep seeing this posted by multiple people…

What we knew last year was…Tate was a leader on the floor…Moody quietly got his and the offense flowed through Smith on the block. That was the core 3 that could be counted on each night from game 1.

Point being…there was that group of 3 players who were leaders in their own way. This team is missing that. Muss even mentioned it yesterday in his presser…there are no leaders. It’s a big issue.

I also think we lost a bit of leadership with Sills leaving the program.

The point isn't that the situations are the same. The point is that its still too early to know how this team will develop and how roles will continue to be defined. That doesn't even mean "don't worry, everything will get better", it could get worst. We just don't know yet. This isn't just unique to us either, there are teams all over the country that look good now that will fall apart and vice versa.

It is easy to look back at last year and praise the team composition and certain players but people were not thinking that after the Bama game last year.

Leadership can grow over the season as well. Those players you mentioned were not the leaders in December that they were in February.

One small example of this is when we played Oral Roberts last year around this time vs when we played them in the NCAA tournament, we had two different starters

Yes, we did have different starters but the same 3 core leaders were there…Tate, Smith, and Moody.

This current team is centered around “me” players and one too unselfish guy in Williams down low who wants to make the highlight reel pass every time out.

To me, this team is not a great team. Last year we knew there were pieces that simply had to get it going…this year I just haven’t seen it with this group. I think Lykes isn’t a good fit with this group…He isn’t remotely tall enough to even defend the 3 in this league…the top crop teams in this league have long guards…Lykes probably needs to see the bench more than the floor.

I'm not so sure that is fair to Devo, he started the year a little rough but over the last five games he has averaged over 5 assists and 2 turnovers (two different career highs in there). It isn't his natural position but he is trying to be the point guard this team really needs

To me it isn't that we have "me" guys but that we have too many players trying to do things that they are not suited for

There is no question this isn't a great team right now. I cringed when we had folks on twitter go after Goodman for not having us in his top 25, we were not playing like a top 25 team.
