I think Saban might be done after this season

Nick Saban: "I was really pleased with the way the team came out and played today. I thought we controlled the line of scrimmage. ... The defense got a few really key stops after we turned the ball over. It's always good to get a shutout."
quote:
Saban on playing starters into the fourth quarter: "If that’s the only thing we’ve got to complain about today, then I think God's blessed me."
No way he says this shite after a game like this if he was still locked in about the future of the program. He seems old this year and seems like he is ready to retire. Just my opinion

Unless something related to his health. Zero chance he steps down

Maybe. Or possibly he knows BoB is out the door after the season and doesn't see any sense in ripping a guy who won't be here anymore.

I vehemently disagree. He has the #1 recruiting class right now (see image below) and he knows next year is going to be a pretty major rebuild, replacing starters (and hopefully coaches) in several key areas. That kind of shite ignites the fire within Saban.
I think it's much easier to motivate players when you're trying to climb the mountain than when you're trying to stay on top and defend it.

Lol we lose two games by a total of four points with the worst coordinators in college football and people think that means Saban is done.

I see only one problem with that ranking…Georgia is second…lol.

Saban is about to enter his Bryant late 70s era... assuming he gets the coordinator flustercuck resolved.
He's not retiring until he gets another NC.

True, but there has clearly been a decline in the attitude/culture of the program and comments like these don’t make me feel better about that. In the past, Saban would have been complaining about all of the things the team did wrong rather than heaping praise on them.

Saban has NEVER thrown anyone under the bus when speaking to the press. Not sure what people expect him to say, but all that shite is handled behind closed doors

Saban has said many times through the years that you have to know when to tear a team down, and when to build them up. This team isn't getting any better with these coordinators. Ripping them a new a-hole after every game isn't going to fix the big problem. If, at least, BoB isn't gone after this year, I'll concede that Saban is about done. But, my guess is he goes scorched earth and comes back next year with new coordinators and running the wishbone. Ok, not the wishbone.

I think you're mistaken.

If next season goes south like some of us think it might then I could see it

Saban knows at this point that the BoB experiment has failed, but he clearly isn't going to fire him at this point in the season, and he's not going to throw anyone under the bus. I don't see how the quote you posted correlates with what you think is going to happen.

Forget the points, lost two on the last snap of each game. It sucks, but as you said let’s not act like the world has stopped spinning.

By this time next year, we'll know a lot more about Saban's future. This is his most important off-season since he arrived. What he does this off-season will tell us a LOT. All we can do is watch Saban and evaluate his decisions.

I’ve said this Before. His wife is the reason he is here and she’ll be the reason he leaves.
When she gets tired of the life and see he’s tired of it, you can color him gone. And it’s not going to be to much longer probably.

I don’t fully agree with the idea that Terry will make the call.
If she said she wanted them to walk away, I’m sure he’d do it without hesitation but he also won’t stick around if he feels like he isn’t doing a good job anymore no matter what she said. That’s not how he rolls.

The most important off season since he arrived is the one when Texas came calling and he decided Tuscaloosa was going to be his forever home.
I don’t think you will be able to tell anything about his future plans until he announces them. The way he’s wired, he’ll be working as hard as he is today op to the second he walks out the door.

Yeah ok… Mal Moore knew how to get him outta Miami. She was the key. He wasn’t happy with the dolphins, but he wasn’t plan on leaving either. Saban might be the King at work, but she definitely has input in life decisions

Saban is at a crossroads. Rebuild or let things stay the same. Our rebuild is different than other teams because we are rebuilding coaches/analysts. I think he has the energy and will to do it. This off-season tells the tell of which direction he chooses, to ride it out or go out a champion.
