I think he has pissed off alumni and faculty. He is not tenoned and I am sure there is a clause the easily be fired. I know as a student you sign a code of conduct I'm sure its in the employment contract as well.

I like the response to your email. But they better get this guy under control quickly or just cut bait. Because while the views he expresses may not reflect the views of other faculty or the university as a whole, it sure as hell doesn't put Auburn in a positive light at all. Not with most alumni I know anyway. I don't think school can put up with this guy dragging the Auburn name through the mud with his Twitter antics much longer before it really starts to affect donations.

I don't really like the response because it doesn't address the root of the problem...Imagine a Freshman in that class being berated because of something they wear or what they believe in? This guy could derail a students career. Think about a freshman veteran or guard person attending this class...

I understand the problems he could give to a student. But I'm not sure what else you would expect in the response from the department chair. They can't come out and just say "yeah we are gonna fire this guy ASAP." But it sounds like, to me anyway, the letter says " look, we are just as tired of this guy as you are. He is pissing off a lot of faculty and alumni and as soon as he slips up big enough he will be dealt with. Just try and ignore his shenanigans until that time, but we are acutely aware of this asshat's behavior and we aren't going to tolerate it."

Imagine the shite storm this guy would bring on the school if they fired him over a couple tweets. He would have a discrimination suit over his sexuality or religious (Jewish) leanings filed immediately. He is the perpetual victim type.

Im not a alumni and have no dog in this fight but I agree with this. Now that he has gotten public attention, firing him now would bring the wrath of the "current movement" to Auburns doors.

Yep. God I fricking hate this world at the moment. The continued pussification of this society is sad.

The values he has expressed do not mesh with the creed.

The Auburn PD should go execute a no-knock warrant on his apartment, Breonna Taylor style.

Why every university doesn't take this stance blows my mind.

There is no shite storm. The storm continues to occur if this guy remains employed spouting off hatred as an Auburn employee.

Our society is scared shitless of lawsuits for some reason. There's no discrimination concerned with his F all cops rant.

“As stated earlier this week, Mr. Goldberg’s comments on social media are inexcusable and completely antithetical to the Auburn Creed. Higher education is built upon the premise of the free expression of ideas and academic dialogue, but Auburn has not and will never support views that exclude or disrespect others, including hateful speech that degrades law enforcement professionals. Mr. Goldberg was hired on a temporary, non-tenure-track assignment,” the university said.
