Agreed.

He had a nice run at Troy, but he is a glorified analyst for Sark currently.

I agree. I have never been a fan of finesse pass happy O's. It will win you games. It is hard to win championships with.

It just seems so much harder to maintain from year to year. Plus, it just puts too much pressure on your defense. As much as I loved Malzahns offense when it was working, it still put tons of pressure on the defense being on the field so much.

There has to be some kind of balance and air raid offense is not going to do that''

Air Raid - Also got to look at the way this system and guys practice.
Not optimal for upper echelon SEC football, in my opinion.

Guys sold their soul to this system and must be held accountable - go work in the Big 12 or small SEC.

I will note / admit that every other offensive system used some air raid.

Do you think Gus ran a pass happy offense?

If he's a defensive guy and thinks that offense will work against SEC defenses consistently enough to win as much as he will need to win to see year 4, we are all in serious, serious trouble

Jake Spavital has had a 1,000-yard rusher in each of the past 3 seasons.

If someone like Spavital can get us a top 20 offense to go along with our traditionally strong defense, we'll be competing for championships again very soon.

DeBoner runs an air raid offense. I still don’t know what that Crowell kid is thinking going there. Too much Updyke in him I guess. He should look at all the RBs being wasted there currently.

I also don't think Spavital's air raid is the same as the Leach style air raids. The offense worked great at A&M, they just had no defense. Don't know if that goes hand in hand or not ultimately, but his offense isn't one that you just throw it 100 times a game. This year they are far more pass happy, but the two years prior that were a 50/50 run pass balance and generally speaking he is in the realm of 55/45 pass/run most years.

Not sure i'm sold on him as an OC as i've said. However I think air raid gets too over-used now, similar to HUNH did. I think his playcalling has been suspect lots of times. I'd consider him a very, very meh hire as an OC.

bad news guys. Florida is meeting with Sumrall. Guess it's not a done deal.

Only two SEC teams ran for more yd per game than Baylor did last year. Spavital’s offense can be balanced.

I consider it good news. Shows other programs respect Sumrall and are considering him.

But Florida considering him or even wanting him doesn’t mean Auburn won’t still get him.

And I doubt Florida has much appetite for a G-5 coach coming off of the failed Napier era.

reality is i dont even think the coaches involved have any idea how it will all end up

the guys who are getting mentioned for all these jobs no doubt have all kinds of potential scenarios which they probably have ranked in their minds just as ADs have them prioritized

its all up in the air until it isn’t

I really hope I didn't just spend all morning watching interviews, and press conferences, for Florida's new coach...

Now that is the offense we need!!!

Up from 3 reads every play to 6!

Always the players' fault always execution.
