No, that's what USC owes him if he's fired. He would owe roughly $10 million if he leaves for another job.

Could he be Cohen's big splash?
I hope not!! Dude tucked tail and ran when OK joined the SEC. Went to bigtime school with a TON of instate talent and has sucked.

He hasn't really sucked. He still fields the #1 offense in the country (Auburn is 103rd). His problem is he never can find a defense.

Last year he went 7-6 but did beat both LSU and TAMU.

Don’t try to reason with goose. He’s shilling for Durka Durka to be promoted.

Great list. Might want to add Thin Skin. But I guess that is the last bullet. From what I have heard he can't handle criticism. Look at how he reacted by being fired. Can't win the big game? True. Why has he got a winning record every year? Well there is the difference between the Big10+ & the SEC. The bottom teams can win a lot more times than say Rutgers will. He reminds me of a used car salesman that puts heavy weight oil in so you don't hear the grinding...

Cohen did say that candidates had asked him if Durkin was willing to stay at DC.

IMO Cohen is an analytics guy based on his background. He said in the same interview that based on analytics Hugh Freeze was the obvious hire. I don't think that he is a go with your gut feeling type. I hope that he doesn't over think this.
He has stressed fixing the offense.

He also said that money would not be an obstacle and that Auburn fans would be shocked at the coaches that were interested and thought Auburn to be a top job. I got the impression that he is looking at a flashy hire.

Everyone outside of Auburn fans knows there are VERY few positions better than here given what the school and location have to offer on top of being All In on NIL. There is nothing that separates this job from UGA other than being the "state school" and us hiring an elite coach. Seems like that is the plan. These kids dont care unless it affects their money. Cohen has to either aim at the top or accept being the 3rd best football team in a 150 mile or so radius and be average.

What’s the odds we could be running it back with Kiffin?

Promise him this time it will be radio silence until after the Egg Bowl.
Coaches tend to stay in Auburn after being fired/retired; plus the luxurious Lake Martin living would suit him well.

That's what I find frustrating. Auburn is a top 15 job, a top 15 program, and should consistently have top 15 results. Somewhere along the way many of us have forgotten that, and have become willing to accept less than that regularly.

Cohen needs to use the analytics that landed him on Freeze again, see who it steers him to, then determine what the complete opposite of that would be

Sucked is too strong of a word. Let's just say that he hasn't lived up to expectations. Very highly paid, good offense, but is underwhelming in regard to success. Especially considering the school he is at and the amount of talent that is in-State.

Yeah just because someone is detail oriented and analytical doesn’t mean they come to the right conclusions lol

I am hoping he’s just covering for his booster buddies with his comments about freeze. But yeah if his analysis really led him to freeze, he’s a moron at setting criteria.

Hugh Freeze ranked very highly in "Coach Effect" metrics while at Liberty, so those parts of Cohen's comments weren't bullshite. These analytics try to analyze performance relative to the talent on the team and the opponents faced (among other statistics) to try to measure the "effect" of the coach himself on the team's record (plus or minus).

Unfortunately those analytics can't measure drive or how hard working the coach will be at a new job (among lots of other things), so its not going to predict guaranteed success.

I leave you with some Kenny Chesney lyrics

quote:

Well, they say the sea is rising,
Well, that's alright with me
'Cause there ain't no other place than on the sea I'd rather be.
And that second coming's comin',
It's right around the bend.
And some day could be any day this world is gonna end

But that's alright, that's okay.
There ain't nothing we can do about the whole thing anyway.

Kenny Chesney is top for a lot of us beach people. Since Jimmy has passed, he is the next true Coastal music guy. There are a few out there but Chesney brings the Coastal vibe
