It was indeed their worst game. Could have been the transition of Durkin taking over the reigns of the whole team. Lost time working with the D, who knows.

Honestly it seems like it will be Sumrall. Most info points him our way and he has alot of ties to us.

Everything always gets crazy before the announcements and usually ends up being who was thought most of the time. Cohen knows Durkin would cost him his job quick if he didn't turn it around and nothing point to that. If anything our Defense will drop off.

The dumb thing is that if Durkin was a smokescreen then it just brought out unneeded hate towards him.

Either way, did Durkin coach us to any wins that we wouldn’t have gotten with Hugh?

Golesh.

If Golesh goes to Florida and Sumrall goes to Ole Miss, who is left? Chesney? Maybe we can call Riley?

I still say Schumann is exactly what we need.

Other than that, we were inept. Our O has been inept until the last three weeks. Would you call our O inept tonight?

The offense looked good in the first half of the thUGA game and looked inept in the second half. Tonight the offense looked inept in the first half and pretty inept minus 2 big plays by Simmons. But just like when Freeze was HC, that should’ve been enough. It was the defense that let a WR run wide open over the middle on that 4th down to score, yet again. We’ve seen it happen time and time again on Durkin’s defenses over the last 2 years.

FYI pretty sure JGT said his Golesh/UF text came from Hoke so take it with a grain of salt

Makes sense in a roundabout way. but if JGT is saying he's not willing to spend big on a coach, it still shows he's a liar based on what he said in the interview.

My final opinion on Durkin is this:

He could be really good as the head coach. None of us have any way of knowing. What I do know is that if ANY of the other open SEC schools hired him as their head coach, their fans have a fricking come apart. Just like they would have if they had hired Freeze and just like they would have if they hired Harsin. The reason is that Durkin has shown no proof at all that he is a good head coach and has only shown the opposite. Could he have improved potentially? Absolutely. However I do not believe that Auburn is currently at a place in its current state to be the school that gambles on it. If this was a situation like the basketball team had where we transitioned to an assistant that was unproven but had been apart of an incredibly successful program for years, I would understand. That it not where Auburn football is at now and I firmly believe that this hire HAS to be at least good even if it’s not a home run.

Ultimately, we were in the redzone with 3 timeouts and :35 seconds left. Time wasn't an issue at that point.

I disagree. In between plays we chewed up 20 seconds couple times. That little bit extra gives the OC more options to work with and makes the offense less predictable which is something our non cohesive offense needed to score. Could it not matter yes but game management did not happen

No but how many offensive players did Durkin pick? Also did Durkin hire nix to be the OC on whichever down?

ESPN has been reporting Sumrall to UF all day idk what you’re talking about. Also explicitly reported Sumrall withdrew his name from the AU search.

The only thing I got against Durkin as a DC is he has been coaching a losing team. As a HC I dont even have to say it. If Auburn hires a coach fired from Maryland then winning is not the goal.

The last thing I'd be doing is telling a new HC that he must retain someone from this losing culture. Nothing is guaranteed, but Id look into Schuman or another Coordinator that's successful on a winning team and ONLY require he is in full control to start winning games. The last thing this program needs is ANYONE who wants soft practices. The hardest part is this team used to be known for finding ways to win with less talent and anyone that lives this side of Texas knows this Auburn program will find a way to lose if they give us the chance to

Looking out of my Posibarner glasses, I think with his situation at USC his wants and Auburns wants lined up perfectly and this is Cohens "Splash" hire.

After tonight there are about 5 coaches that could get me to attach myself emotionally to this again next year and 3 of them aren't even realistic and the other 2 would hardly be believable

How many one score games did we lose this season? Let’s see-
1. Oklahoma
2. aTm
3. Mizzou
4. UK
5. Vandy
6. Bama

This team has forgotten how to win.

We need an old school, hard arse to come in and change the culture. We need an offseason of pure hell. Run off everyone who REALLY doesn’t want to be there. No more coddling these babies. They’re men. Treat them like it.

Now, who fits that bill??

would you want Dabo?

(because he has had a hell of a lot more success than Riley)
