Sumrall is running one spot behind Golesh in the most recently released WEP Top 5 Coaches

Regardless is whoever ends up being the coach or not... An AD who missed his top target 2 cycles in a row isn't a very positive sign.

If it hasn't been mentioned already, Sumrall and Golesh have the same agent.

This agent wasn’t mentored by Sexton was he?

Yeah until it extends past tomorrow I still think it's Sumrall. I refuse to believe Cohen bungled it this bad and think that most of what we're hearing is shite slinging.

Even though we are a historic top 15 school, our last few years have not been kind to our reputation.

The program is broken and is probably at the lowest point in 50 years. We should stop trying to put bandages on the problem and set about the business of rebuilding the program. I like Traylor because not only is a very respected coach in the state of texas, he's a loyal program builder who has built UTSA from pretty the ground up. However, I think he's realized the program has probably hit its ceiling without a large infusion of financial support. The state is flush with oil money and he's practically having to beg people to support the program. To his credit he hasn't bolted to another job, but at some point the man realizes he's taken the program as far as he can take it.

Sumrall's agent is Clint Dowdle who came up at CAA with Sexton but has since moved to WME.

I assure you Schumann wasn't twiddling his thumbs.

Even harder to maintain success blah blah blah ... most likely two straight SEC championships.

OK, sure. If he hires quality name at $6-8 MM he'll have another shot if it doesn't work out.

The man pretty much has his fingerprints all over the coaching carousel. I hate it, but you have to respect what hes built.

His Christmases must be awesome with all those commision checks he gets every year around this time.

So that same guy from bunker said Summral basically hung up or ended the last call with Cohen and told him no thanks”. Apparently Marcus Davis and Nix were part of the package deal with Durkin or certain players were leaving.

Hence Cohen going full Jaba trying to keep the band together.

Funny thing is said players may still leave if someone offers them more money.

Marcello says were option 3 for Summral now behind UF and Ole Miss

The only thing helping our case is UF in a uproar about it could shift the momentum back to AU / Ole Miss

I still think we have him but Cohen is going to have to concede on keeping these certain coaches / players

I'm coming around on getting a top notch P4 coordinator like Glen Schumann or Brian Hartline. G5 coaches haven't worked out so well for us

If our boosters are worried about money per year to start out, and want to meddle a bit in what assistants are hired, then hiring a top assistant has always made more sense anyway, as they have less coaching buddies they'll want to bring with them anyway.

Far more top guys come from OC/DC ranks as well anyway.

Marcus Davis is the best WR coach in the country and any coach who would not want to keep him, well, they are NOT welcome to the Auburn family in my humble opinion.

If Sumrall is actually out Cohen needs to get some balls and go do whatever it takes to get Dilly.

Sumrall is a no-nonsense guy. You are not going to walk back coaching demands with him and "all is good". I expect that if he said "no", then he means it and its over.
