Our line isn't good enough to run inside zone. Watching Dlinemen shove the double teams into the backfield and then our linemen whiff the scraping LB was just sad.

I'd transition to read option, run screen option, normal option (pitch to back), bootleg/roll out RPO with 1-2 reads and then tuck and run if it's not there. I'm not even sure that's really going to make us "good" but it at least plays into our QB's strengths.

This is not an easy shift for a team but with current personnel I'm not sure there's another way for our offense to become serviceable. Read option takes a lot of reps to get good at and I would have started repping it in practice the last two weeks.

bootleg/roll out

Except all our QBs are terrible on the roll out.

We can't let the D pin their ears back every play. Need the quick hits, slants, screens, audible to throw where the pressure is coming from.

No 20+ yd routes until we stop defenders from beating the ball to the QB.

We need a spread offense that can be implemented quickly:

We are at game 5 in season two, in case you forgot how to tell time. Hasn't even been two years, let alone three

Oh my bad 3 recruiting cycles. Plus the first one he took his sweet time “to analyze” the team. Lol

I think you make some valid points, Corch. I am not really sure that the current Pro style offense is the best option with the quarterbacks that we have. Robby Ashford seems better suited for a spread option offense.

The change won’t be pretty there will still be bad plays but you could get an offense out if you used some of the concepts I suggested. I’m not saying ditch the entire offense we are currently running because reps means things. Just we aren’t good enough to line up and win at every spot.

Until we are better on the line of scrimmage, we will struggle to compete with the top half of the league.

Whoever the coach is will need the best, big, nasty linemen he can sign on both sides of the football.

Many schemes can work if you a good upfront.

Not much works when you are not.

The portal may help, but we’ve got to find and sign 4 OL per year and develop them into monsters.

To answer the question of who I would want as coach other than Coach G.

Dave Aranda
Prime
Mike Elko
Jeff Grimes
Lane

All those are acceptable in my opinion. I could probably find others that might be similar to Harsin and could be successful if they recruited their asses off.

I mean, we should have lost to the worst team in the East last week. This Line is going to get people killed.

Well they tried a lot of what I suggested and did many successful things. Turnovers killed some stuff. The fumbles on the read plays were to be expected some because of lack of reps but you have to use that for Robby at QB.

Now I didn’t suggest getting stupid and trying trick plays 2nd and goal or going for 4th and 10 when you could easily punt and pin another struggling offense deep.

Oh well. Soon. Very soon. We get new direction and better recruiting. Can’t get worse recruiting if you didn’t do shite we’d get 15 decent players if all we did was throw out offers
