But our 2027 recruiting is looking good. 26 is just a down year in the state.
It's going down the drain if Freeze is retained. The guy will be a lame duck. The fan base wants him gone, he owns the worst record as an Auburn football coach in nearly a century, he's paid fat money for two QBs in the portal who have fallen on their face, his offense is one of the worst in power 5 football and he consistently throws coaches and players under the bus. Plus he has ongoing health problems. Recruiting against this guy is going to be a piece of cake going forward.

I can't believe the guy is still employed today. That said, I don't think any coach is going to come in and flip our roster enough to have a winning season in 2026 with the way that schedule looks. I hated the hire from the beginning and want him gone but I can see the people that actually pay the buyout saying the end result isn't going to be significantly different in 2026 with Freeze or without and deciding to save their money and start fresh after a blowout at bama in 2026.

If Freeze wants to save his job, he’s got to make a change at QB. Put Deuce out there. Look at this 4 game stretch- Arky, Vandy, Kentucky, and Mercer. He has 4 games to get comfortable before Bama.
We know what we have in JA. He’s been holding onto the ball too long. Hugh can’t coach that out of him now. It’s ingrained.
Why not provide a spark? It might just keep the team and recruits together.

Where is Cohen’s sorry a$$ today?

Low grade prostate cancer treated with watchful waiting is not the same as metastatic lung or pancreatic cancer.
There are lots of men with low grade prostate cancer living their lives to the fullest.
Cancer sucks. I’m sorry Freeze has it, but that is not an excuse for being a terrible coach and play caller.

You cannot fire them both at the same time unless you are ready to Make Rich McGlynn the AD.
Having said that, I am not sure what Cohen has done, he hired Hugh, upgraded the baseball facility, JH scoreboard.
The only thing I like is the 4 additional NC to get us to 9...

The scoreboard is not an upgrade, it looks terrible.

What do you not like about it?

My worthless opinion? Cohen believes we're about to go on a 3-4 game winning streak. If he fires Freeze, and that happens, he has to worry about the fanbase screaming for Durkin to get the job.
I love Caddy, and he was exactly what we needed when he took over for Harsin, but he was never a realistic option to be the HC at Auburn.
That has to be on Cohen's mind. Durkin has been the best coach on this staff. Id love for them to work out a way to keep him, but I'm hoping for a bigger HC hire than that.

Durkin is nothing like Coach Caddie.
The sentimentality surrounding Caddie was way over the top.

I know that. I still don't want him to be the head coach.
I apologize. I thought it was obvious I was comparing the situation, not the men.

It's funny you think any of our prospects will be sticking with us long term after this season when almost every good skill position player we have currently on the roster will likely transfer at years end if Hugh stays. Which leads to a 4-5 win season next year with our schedule, and losing the commits anyway.
Most likely we lose half those guys with a new coach too, but there is zero reason for a player with NFL aspirations to stick with Hugh after this season. Watching Singleton completely tank his NFL draft stock by coming here is going to be a huge red flag for everyone by itself.

Hugh Freeze is well past regaining support: beating Arkansas or Kentucky does nothing from a fan buy-in perspective.
The other part you need to understand is that this was a highly polarizing hire from the beginning. Half of this fanbase never wanted freeze from the start. Once the losses really start to pile on, the outrage will be deafening.
Im not sure if you have been paying attention, but the PTB dont care one bit about the fans. The support Freeze still has is from the people that will pay the buyout and the guy who would have to conduct the search after firing him. Fanbase buy-in doesn't register to these people.

It doesn’t seem like our administration and power brokers understand or appreciate the urgency. We are in the worst 5 year stretch in Auburn football history and haven’t had a winning record in 5 years. That is unacceptable and should never ever happen at Auburn. Florida and Arkansas are already in the market, and we’re just twiddling our thumbs on board the titanic. We are already in the wilderness; another bad hire and we move further into irrelevance. Cohen needs to go too for hiring a coach that literally no one else wanted.

3rd worst stretch. We have had worse.

The football program has never started 0-3 or worse in SEC play 3 years straight...ever...until now.

No doubt. But we have had worse 5 year stretches. I believe the early 50s were rough.

It does once we start having lethargic fanbases and giant empty spots on tv during real games. Whether it's Tubs, Bowden, or Chizik, the stadium starts getting this dead vibe at seasons end, and the coach gets fired. The crowd has avoided that so far this season , but I think Mizzou was pretty much the tipping point. If we lose to Arky it will be interesting to see the crowds for the Kentucky and Mercer games.

The length of a down turn doesn't further downgrade the current situation.
The current situation is the current situation - and we are NOT in the wilderness. Just one segment needs to be fixed; that is not being in the wilderness.
