Your attempt at making a point is nonsensical.
You are basically arguing that Tennessee would have been better off had they not pulled the plug on Dooley, Butch Jones, and Pruitt and hoped and prayed that any one of those three would have magically learned to become a good head coach (despite proving that they weren't) and that this would have somehow sped up their process to winning again.
Do you know how we know without a shadow of a doubt that Tennessee was CORRECT in firing all three of those when they did? Simple: none of them went on to head coaching success at any of their subsequent jobs. Derek Dooley never got another chance at being a HC (or didn't want it) and Butch Jones cant even win at Arkansas State.
You can not go back in time and un-hire a bad head coach. All you can do is fire them once they prove that they aren't it (which Freeze has clearly proven by now) and roll the dice with the next guy. The idea that you can give an idiot 4, 5, 6 years of failure and all of a sudden something will click is among the stupidest arguments you can make. The only coaches in recent memory who have turned around consistent failure after 3 straight years are Lea and Drinkwitz, but you will notice that both were very young/inexperienced when they were hired. Lea was a coordinator that had never been a HC, and Drinkwitz had just one season at Appy State. Hugh Freeze is a long-tenured HC with lots of experience - guys like this aren't going to "figure it out" once they have SHOWN YOU that they don't have it.
Finally - the next person who seriously suggests that all we are is an OC or QB away is going to get kicked in the side of the head. None of these changes will override the fact that you have a POOR HEAD COACH. During Freeze's tenure here you have seen: non-sensical clock management, highly undisciplined teams, complete collapses after half-time (ie: complete inability to coach adjustments), and about a dozen other clear fatal flaws which are HEAD COACHING ISSUES. These are NOT fixed regardless of how good your OC or DC is. There have been increasing reports about how LAZY and disorganized our practices are. The practice schedule and intensity are set by whom? The head f*cking coach. Under this head coach we have been blown out by teams clearly inferior in talent to us (a 21-point loss at home to NEW MEXICO STATE) and blown countless leads to teams that we were beating by way of being OUT-COACHED.
Use your freaking brain and think a little bit.

The dumbest part of this whole discussion is that the same people who constantly complain about how Auburn has the "PTB" who interfere and tell the HC what to do are now suggesting that we will apparently fix this mess by get this: interfering and telling the HC what to do
.
Make up your freaking mind. Freeze has already had a "real OC", and he fired him so that he can go back to being the OC himself. He has shown ZERO desire to hand over play-calling. Therefore, by suggesting that you will force his hand and tell him who to hire and how to run his program, you are implying that you need to REMOVE decision making power from the HC.
Guys - if you need to babysit the HC and tell him how to run his program, and make his staff hires for him...then you don't have a HC and should look for a new one. This isn't rocket science.

"We aren't a QB away from being undefeated.
We are a HC who can coach and set a QB up for success away from being undefeated."
Killing me watching Nix throwing dimes against Dallas right now.

I kinda think that Cohen and Hugh have a plan to let him retire after the season for “medical reasons.” And, because there are so many programs jockeying for coaches, that he’ll have one locked up before the end of the season.
Hey, a man can dream… hahahaha

"Golly gee, what is LSU doing firing all of these football coaches? Don't they know that they are going to become the next Tennessee?!" - Some sad-sack idiot Auburn fan somewhere, probably

With LSU firing Kelly, us firing freeze is too late. Our best bet is printing Durkin

Its not too late, because a lot of these schools are not going to be shopping from the same aisle as we should be shopping from. Unless LSU has more changes, their AD is an idiot and is obsessed with "splash hires", which means that they will likely look to the most high-profile P4 name that will say yes. We are unlikely to be competing there. Florida is also apparently confirmed to only be looking at P4 coaches this time.
Auburn needs to get real and understand that we're not getting Kiffin and pick from the realistic list of candidates that would still offer actual upside and hope.
If Sumrall is their guy, then they need to move on Sumrall. Auburn can really frick themselves if Kiffin actually does end up leaving Ole Miss and they let Sumrall take the job there. Sumrall would absolutely be a candidate for Ole Miss in the event that they have an opening.

For God's sake please no Lashlee, Drinkwitz or Dillingham.

It’s gonna happen and not only that they will insist on them keeping Durkin. The people that make these decisions at Auburn never learn a single lesson.
A week ago they were going full QAnon saying that Freeze was doing great but the SEC was screwing him.

I've heard Lashlee to Arky is done, but I hear voices in my head all the time, so there's that.....

Stupidity prevails at the fan level.
You have no right to know.
Contacts will be made public when the opportunity rises.

I am going to just copy your post and paste it when I see posts saying we need to keep Freeze for another season because AU can't find a coach because LSU and UF are looking for a coach or even worse, just find a good OC or QB coach to come work under Hugh!
The lack of logical thought, intellect and basic common sense for those simpletons that think that is mind numbing. And I have to assume most are AU grads. That is disappointing that AU prepared them for life so poorly. Unless they were a philosophy, sociology or some other DEI-type of major.
Your post I am replying to should be a drop the mic type of post and I would like to use it with your permission. I will certainly always give you credit.

I would also agree with this if I had faith in our PTB starting with Cohen. I hope you are right. I would love to eat crow for this type of outcome.

my biggest concern about Sumrall is the Sexton factor
hints that “Sumrall has privately expressed interest in the AU job” and “Sumrall would definitely take the AU job if offered” are eerily similar to what was being said about Kiffin three years ago, and Cristobal in 2020
in the end both leveraged AU’s interest into better deals with their current schools (of course Duckman jumped a year later to UM)
maybe Sumrall is different, since he has ties to AU and the state, but Sexton’s involvement still concerns me
