What always seems to surprise me is the lack of execution of fundamentals. If people are still playing out of position, running the wrong routes, etc then it's a coaching issue. Maybe it's just auburn. Its been this way on at least one side of the ball since 2013. Poor blocking, poor tackling, missed assignments etc. But even some of the
"Lesser" schools seem to understand the fundamentals.

No excuses for the previous coaches. Freeze HAS to continue relentlessly recruiting and actually show development. Obviously that's way too early to show right now. The Auburn fanbase needs to take a breath and temper their expectations. The man literally stated this in the off season. Im not gonna be the " just give him time, just give him time" guy. There are realistic expectations that Freeze seems to understand. Knowing that, I can be patient and hope others trust he can make Auburn relevant again.

I have not seen anyone give our offense credit for that final brilliant kneel down drive that saved the game. Perfect execution and no fumbles. I've seen the pros mess their execution up and lose a game, and based on the preceding offensive series, we showed we were more than capable of fumbling the game away. Kudos for that final brilliant kneel down execution!

Some may not call it fair but compare what Freeze has done here to what Prime has done at Colorado. Colorado had less and Prime has done a unreal job with the roster and they execute well.
His son and Hunter a huge parts of that but overall, he basically built a competitive program in 6 months
It can be done

Harsin left this program a mess for Freeze to clean up. This year is about recruiting for me personally.
But for god sakes put Holden out there. He can’t possibly be worse than what we saw last night from Robby and Thorne. 94 yards total passing. That is ABYSMAL

Our coaching was not great last night. Switching QBs at the goal line and the having to burn our second time of the second half was just dumb

I'm just concerned with the lack of motivation/effort. It could have just been that it was a late game. Hopefully they pull it together for the next few weeks because after Samford it's going to be tough. I think freeze is killing it recruiting wise. They just have to execute better. The defense looked better than the first game for sure. The offense looked worse. I know cal is better than UMass but our guys, offensively, looked completely out of sync.

I am giving thanks to God for our team's safe travel to California and for the Auburn family who supported them last night. It looks like there is room for improvement in some areas but I am just very thankful today. War Eagle!

Seems to me the biggest issue is the O doesn't view Thorne as it's leader yet. Maybe He's a prick. Maybe theyre just too buddy buddy with boobie.
Regardless thorne needs to step it up. If not for Fairweather we'd all be calling for 3rd string.

And letting the playclock run from 25- 6 giving them time to call the review for the fumble.

I’m still surprised actually.

high hopes Freeze would change that, but not looking likely
This is such an overreaction. It seems no one paid attention to the warnings of this being a very challenging matchup for our team.
Take a look across college football games yesterday and you will see many teams struggled in their games and others lost. We traveled a very long way and played a game that was a 9:30 start time for our guys. It’s a pretty big challenge to overcome.
It was indeed very ugly and the coaches made some errors along with poor execution along the way, but we won. Our guys got another game to learn from without losing. Pretty big deal. We still don’t know what we have overall, but there are some bright spots to build from.
Defense did a pretty damn good job. Fairweather looks special. Jarquez struggled but we have a deep RB room. Our OL looks better from last year. Do they need to improve? Of course. Asante is a fricking mad man on defense. Lot’s of positives to look at from this game and others need to make some big improvements, including coaches.
But we won and are 2-0.

Please. This two QB thing is not going to end well. It was a poorly called game by our O staff in every aspect. Find one QB and stick with him.

Fairweather’s catch was nice. Asante made some really critical plays and he was fun to watch. Alston looked very good too - we need to figure out a way to get him and Hunter on the field at the same time, plus Ashford. Outside of those few bright spots, we looked very lost and confused on both sides of the ball. No identity or momentum from offense outside of that one long scoring drive we had. Thorne is a timid qb with very little awareness. I’d rather just gamble on Ashford and run 70% of the time, at least he’s exciting (for better or worse). Defense got their crap pushed in at the LOS for the majority of the game by a Pac12 team. Ott was eating up 5 yds at a time easily. We were fortunate their qb was inaccurate.
I think Cal is better than a lot of us thought (most chalked it up as a W in preseason predictions). The problem is Cal is nowhere near the level of talent we’ll face in conference play. Watching bama/Texas going right into our game was like watching a totally different sport.

No doubt about it. Colorado would beat us by 30 right now, and they were worse than we were last year. That’s not to discount what Freeze has done with our roster, replaying key parts, but Prime was a magician. Colorado is well coached. And, last night at least, we are not right now.

I believe it’s because Deion doesn’t coach in the traditional way per se. He has an amazing ability to motivate and doesn’t believe in limitations that most put on things. Him and his staff have done a really good job but they have some real challenges coming up. Interested to see their season unfold. He has them ranked at 17 or 18 in the AP poll. Crazy movement for a team with 50 plus transfers.

85 transfers right? I had heard that he canned every single scholarship player on the prexisting roster.
That is something to keep in mind once Deion starts talking about giving athletes second chances lol. Or once Deion suppoters start talking about coaches abusing their powers against athletes

I think he kept 11 from the original and then HS recruits coming in and 52-54 transfers. I would have been okay had he come to Auburn but I was not fully behind it. The jury is still out of course. He has 10 more games to play. Can’t deny the effort and execution on the field. Nebraska sucks. Their defense gave up a lot of points to TCU. Let’s see how they do against the big boys of football.
