- Monday is still bad. I don't recall him being this bad last year so maybe he's struggling with Mason's assignments?

- Bo played his arse off and was a wizard. I still like bringing in Finley for a series. Bo is a coaches son so maybe he responds to stress?

- It looks to me like our D is finally understanding the zone concepts better and not drifiting as much.

- The field goal unit is a concern.

- The Northwestern kid might be our best DE. High motor and relentless. Him and Harris were major pick-ups.

- I liked that Bobo didn't give up on the run game. I really like the design of that counter play that Hunter broke off.

- Hunter may win a Heisman before he's done. He's a force.

- I like how Bobo is using Shivers. Instead of running him off-guard like Gus did, he's getting him out in space.

- I liked that Bobo ran Bo a few times, but would like to see more designed run plays for Bo. Its still not enough.

- This staff seems to have don a great job with the portal plugging some holes.

Leota has been a pleasant surprise putting pressure off the edge. I really like how he plays.

Agree with all of that. Our WRs and O line are still my biggest concern for this team. If they could step up a little more we’d have a solid team this year. Overall I’m proud of them for not letting the game slip away early when it looked bleak.

Half of Utah's FB team are Pacific Islanders. Generally speaking they are great teammates, work hard, and are great jumbo athletes. I took an interest in his transfer because of all that. I think Mason will get him 50+ snaps each game moving forward. He was also really productive at Northwestern. IIRC he was 3rd team Big-10.

he's always been slow and underwhelming imo. he just has a top-10 name and had that pick 6 against bama, so we've all expected him to be much better than he actually is.

If Smoke could put on 20-30lbs I think he'd be a pretty good middle linebacker. He's nails in coming up in the run game. He just gets lost in coverage way too much.

Coincidentially Sherwood, AU's other saftey last year was drafted by the Jets was moved to LB and I believe he's a starter. With Monday's frame IDK if he could put on that weight.

This may be totally irrelevant and a coincidence but I noticed it last night and had not before. On the first miss it looked like the snap was into the holder's body which made it seem like it took an extra count to get the ball down.

On the block, before the snap it looked to me like the holder wasn't lined up properly with the snap and the same thing happened again. Might be reading too much into it but it was definitely noticeable to me last night.

Unfortunately his surrounding talent will not make that possible.

Agree, Bo's legs definitely give us the best chance to move the ball whether it is designed runs and keeping the defense honest or the scramble plays he was making last night.

Harsin said Finley coming in was planned because he earned it during last weeks preparation, and everyone agreed he earned it.

The snap is the most important part of the whole deal and I agree with you.

I hope we use Bo more in the run game moving forward beacause he's really productive at it.

Regarding Smoke, I feel like we put him in positions at time that are matching his skill set. He is a Safety, not a cover corner.

I get frustrated with the dline because they seem to get pressure but cant seem to bring the qb down in the backfield. Always swatting at them or just missing. Maybe bad rush angles? Leota was in the backfield several times but that tackle was on him like a backpack and the refs last night surely weren’t calling holds.

Totally agree on this. It’s the entire unit. It starts with the snap. Too slow and it gets the kick blocked. Too wild and it disrupts timing.

The hold has got to be on the spot and angled correctly.

The line has to block, especially the ends. The defense puts speedsters on the edge. The last guy has got to just bump the rusher before blocking down. It doesn’t take much. The goal is to have the ball kicked within 1.2 seconds, so all it takes is a little nudge to give the kick a chance.

And, of course, there’s the kick itself. The kicker has to trust that everything is going to be taken care of and concentrate on the kick. He also has to have good fundamentals. This is where I worry about Anders. His style seems lackadaisical compared to Daniel’s, or any of our previous kickers. His balance and footwork always seem off to me, and having played the position in college, I understand how important that is.

Hopefully, they can get the kinks worked out on the field goal unit this week.

He’s definitely not as robotic as Daniel. Every kick Daniel had looked the exact same.

Watched all three kicks last night and the edge guy was close to getting all of them. The one that was blocked had no shot though. Even if the edge guy doesn’t get it someone came right up the middle. The one miss wasn’t on Carlson. The snap and hold were both off.

But he did for a while and does every game. It's really frustrating.

Yeah... I also dont want him running right into the meat of a 9 man box. It doesnt matter who it is "Georgia St" your not gonna have much success. He has to help these guys out like last night. Misdirection, qb runs, whatever. He has to take pressure off the backs. I liked seeing Shivers and Hunter on the perimeter. Especially behind our Te's and Wr's, blocking is essentially what they do best.

-Tank must be banged up. He is not hitting holes or breaking tackles like he was last year

-Harsin is a ballsy motherfricker. Those 4th down balls, the onside kick, pulling Bo last week. He will sit your arse if you’re not playing up to his standard. Did it with Tony Fair on Saturday. He lays it out there and I really like it.

-Jarquez Hunter is a fricking beast. He is not only powerful but he can make guys miss too. He made a slight juke early in the long run that was a real thing of beauty. I think he has better vision than Tank and is more durable
