As bad as Jeremy Johnson was in 2015, he still accounted for more touchdowns and helped the team to a better record when compared to Sean White. He also rated better as a passer and was more accurate, even though his YPP was lower. That's pretty telling.

quote:Fairly confident we lose to Kentucky with JJ under center.
Sean White contributed nothing in any of his wins
And our defense had three separate opportunities in o/t to beat Arky. Can't blame White for their failures.

He was 2-3
Arkansas - 4 OT. Terrible defense. Led game tying drive with 53 secs in regulation
Miss St - One score. Terrible RZ playcalling.
Kentucky - Won
Memphis - Won
Ole Miss - One Score. Terrible RZ playcalling
Had three games with over 250 yards passing to one of the worst WR cores in recent memory.

I still have high hopes for White, but it's clear he was victimized by poor development last year. And its as much JJ's fault as it is Gustav/Lashlee's.
I'm pretty sure the plan was to play SW extensively in the 2nd half of the Jax State game, but JJ's herp derp act made that impossible. Then came LSU, when throwing him to the wolves on the road was probably considered early on, until it became obvious that we were going to get monkey-hammered either way. Then came MSU, where his very first collegiate snap came as the starter.
I look at White as a Brandon Cox type QB, fully capable of winning 10+ games a season as a starter. Unlike Cox, however, his initial experience came not as a backup to a record-setting SR on an undefeated juggernaut of a team, but thrust into a starting role out of desperation because the presumptive Heisman candidate was a spectacular failure.

I can't imagine why anything that we saw on the field from the QB position in 2015 would have any Auburn fan optimistic. White was only the best option of a bunch of below average ones, but as fans we have to hang our hat on something.
JJ has talent.
White is young and could improve.
JFlll might be the next NM.

John Franklin sucks at Qb and in no way, outside of being a fast runner, will be a Nick Marshall. People on this board bashed NM for his passing ability, now they pray JF can throw just as well
White looked fricking great as a Freshman until he got injured and only the truly dedicated haters will disagree. Im looking at you TT and GC

quote:I was wrong about him being pulled, that was the Georgia game. The fact remains, he didn't do shite in leading Auburn to a victory. The offense had to compensate for his shitty play by letting Kerryon Johnson run the wildcat, Jeremy Johnson run the ball and by pounding it with Jovon Robinson. Sean White was 8/13 for 102 yards and 2 interceptions (one returned for a touchdown).
He had a bad game, but still led the team to a victory

You and I must have way, way different definitions for that word.
Nobody is necessarily being negative about Sean White, GenesChin and I are just pointing out that he was in no way "great" (or even good) as a quarterback last year. Jeremy Johnson outperformed him for crying out loud. Could they both improve? Absolutely. Will they improve? Probably so, but not greatly given the supporting cast and their skill sets. In fact, I think John Franklin III should win the job given the supporting cast, but the offense will struggle with any of the 3. Auburn likely won't be very good, again, in 2016. It's just realistic. We're playing in the SEC. You can't shine a turd.

Hey Chex, honest question, are you Sean or a close family member or friend?
Posted on 5/22/16 at 6:51 pm to threedog79
quote:No. I see Sean as a young Qb that got thrown in the fire because JJ went full retard. He made some very good passes, he made some bad passes. But when he was under fire, he moved in the pocket and delivered the football without shying from contact.

He was a Freshman last year...and dont give me that bull shite red shirt makes a difference when you saw ZERO playing time during his redshirt year and spent the majority of practices throwing to third stringers and getting minimal reps.
Its not Seans fault that Ricardo drops TD passes, or that Avery Young got called for holding on another TD pass, or that Gus calls run play after run play inside the redzone, or that Gus runs wild cat with JJ and KJ instead of letting Sean throw the football.
Sean is a gamer. He may not have all of the tools that negas want in a Qb, but he has what it takes to be successful. He moves in the pocket very well, his arm strength is decent and he is mobile enough to keep defenses honest (see Miss St game).
Aw frick it. Auburn sucks 6 win season coming up! We have shitty coaches and our talent is overrated! Our fanbase is a joke

We have zero chance against Clemson. Our defense ranks among the lowest in the country last year and there is zero chance they will play well against a Qb like Watson. Three score loss easily
