Why does Pete Thamel seem to have all the inside info on AU nowadays?
Because the current AD and coaches dont remember what a true scumbag he is.

It’s already being reported by Philadelphia media.
Rocker does again. At least last time we got to keep him for 1 year.

The fricker has coached at Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina but gets hired by Auburn then decides to to leave for the NFL a 2nd time.

Meh it is what it is. No hard feelings.
My only worry is I hope there are decent Dline candidates still out there at this point in the year. Harsin may have to fall back on a Boise guy.

Let's see Harsin played for Bosie State went to Eastern Oregon back to Boise State, next to Texas and Arkansas State and back then again to Boise State and now Auburn. So I guess Harsin's also a POS for leaving the school he played for and coached at twice?
My-oh-my, what a buuch of hired gun, materialistic, wannabe's... you'd think they'd owe more allegiance to the school (and fan's) who'd fire them both in two seconds flat.
Good for Tracy being the success Auburn helped him to be. It's almost like he's living his dream.

Did we pay USC a buyout for Rocker?

Stop
This is the nature of the coaching profession. It's known and widely accepted. I have no doubts there may be hard feelings on occasion from a situation like this from a HC or school, but overall it is the nature of this industry.

It sucks to lose a new staff member so quickly, but it isn't a bad thing to lose a coach to the NFL.
It's the nature of the business... Saban just had to replace damn near his entire staff.
As far as Rocker, it's a no-brainer. He gets to coach at the highest level, probably a slightly higher salary, and he doesn't have to kiss teenager arse for recruiting purposes. Good for him, hopefully Harsin can poach another good DL coach.

He was asked to give a ~2 year commitment to help lead the change in culture and he agreed. Then he left ~2 weeks later. That isn't "just how the industry works", its a low-class move to use your alma mater like that. We know its a low-class move because he did the exact same thing at South Carolina where he literally left in the middle of the night without telling anyone. We also paid a buyout to get him out of South Carolina. At some point you need to give a commitment and stick to it, because this thing doesn't work if every coach on the staff is actively entertaining offers 24/7.
He also approached Harsin asking him to match the offer and was told "good luck".

I heard that Harsin told him to basically pound sand.
Good for him if true.

Not a lot of respect for him if this is true.

This will be clawed back in some fashion.

I love this. I would rather have CTR stay just so the staff is rounded out, but he's certainly replaceable.

If we paid his buyout to get him from S.C., I hope there is an agreement that he has to repay us if he leaves before doing anything at all for Auburn.

Not if the industry doesn't require it and you keep getting work. That's how you know this is how the industry works right now. I don't expect anyone to like it. I don't, but that is how the industry works right now whether you like it or not.

I don’t believe there was a buyout at SC because he never signed a new contract under the new coaching staff there.
He was expected to, but he didn’t.

Glad to hear harsin told him this. TR has held 8 jobs in 12 years. His only loyalty is to himself.
