You guys do realize we played base zone defense the entire 2nd half right?

The hot takes are killer.

Exactly Rig, and mixing and matching personnel, along with some basic different schemes.

Its Mercer fellas, you want us to wait til we play Penn State to see if we can execute a cover two, and figure out who can do it effectively?

Last year in the Bama game Joko Willis ran a delayed blitz, the TE he was supposed to cover was running a crossing pattern directly towards one of our guys, when he saw Joko blitz, he knew the zone behind him was open, he immediately pivoted and ran back to where he (and Joko) had been, INSTEAD of our guy in the middle following him out as was practiced, he stood there in his zone and the TE was wide open for a touchdown.

THATS why you run different schemes early in the season, so you dont look stupid when it counts.

That was Bragg

He needs to play more. He got more pressure than anyone tonight.

Now I see why they did not move Cam to Edge to help with depth, Bragg will work out fine and Cam with 15 tackles at LB last night. Hmmm these coaches seem to know what they are doing, imagine that.

I thought the WR's played well. Tank still struggles catching the ball. Shenker dropped a perfect throw. Other than that, I thought it was solid.

I thought they looked decent too. Blocking looked much better than I expected which was good to see.

6 got torched a few times but he can return punts

6 returning punts isn't the 6 on defense. PR was Javarrious Johnson.

On the DBs Simpson was good. Kaufman played well. Still don't understand why Puckett seems to have never gotten any better.

Keionte Scott reminded me of Christian Tutt. Same number and same poor coverage skills.

Box score shows returns by both. Seems like the announcer thought it was Scott more than Johnson.

Both #6 were returning punts. Very confusing - Kienta Scott and Johnson.

Ahh, I think I only saw 2 and they were Johnson. My bad.

Jang, I think they are trying to rush Alfords progression is the reason no Calzada. All indications were his camp was not good, could be the lingering effects of some injury, so that put the urgency on getting Robby up to speed.

I don't think the announcers knew either.

The good - we beat up on a bad opponent

The bad - we still don’t know much of anything

The ugly - the weather

TJ looked really sharp early. The accuracy I wanted to see on short to medium was there. Still not sure what to make of the picks. Maybe the coaches told him to throw them regardless of coverage?

Ashford looked good to great. Didn’t have a ton of passing opportunities, but you can’t deny those wheels.

What do you guys think happens this week in practice and next game as far as QB’s are concerned? I know what the average fans are going to be screaming for on Facebook…

The Good -

Rb's look good.
Wr's didn't drop a lot of balls.
LBs are serviceable
Play calling was good
penalties were good

The Bad -

Qbs are serviceable againt the Mercers of the world. Legit Defenses will eat their lunch

Oline wasn't creating a lot of holes. They got a decent push but I believe we're still bottom tier

Dline didn't look creat a lot of pressure or havoc in the backfield.

The Ugly -

Secondary was a few steps behind all night.

Pretty much sums it up. Finley is mediocre. Ashford is mediocre but has a higher ceiling because of his athleticism. Neither will win us many games unless something miraculous happens with Ashford.

Oline and Dline were mediocre.

We’re pretty much a 7-5 team at this point which is what we all expected.

I don’t know about that. I think the SEC is going to be pretty darn strong this year.

Yeah the SEC may be more competitive than it has in a long time. Some very good coaches in the West for sure

Absolutely loved getting that option play on film where Finley handed the jet sweep to Ashford and he pitched to Tank.

That's a formation/play that we can do a lot of things with. With the talent deficit we will face in several games, that's the kind of thing this offense needs to throw in to keep defenses on their toes.

Staff’s biggest miss by far was not getting a tier 1 QB transfer this off-season.
