Lots of veteran players who have been through the wars and won. Obviously they don't have a Cam but when it matters most the vets find a way to win. Hopefully Okoro will be back in a week or so

The team rebounds and defends like a 1 seed.

If the shooting % picks up, another deep run is possible.

This team reminds me unfortunately of https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2013/06/04/former-auburn-guard-varez-ward-indicted-in-point-shaving-scandal/2388831/

Every game it seems like they're just letting the other team hang around, or even establish a strong lead, and then get to overtime and flip the switch and we're an obviously better team.

I just hope we don't find out that players are involved in some live betting, or betting on getting to OT, or shaving points, or something similar!

We wouldn’t be 22-2.

Varez was air balling free throws against Alabama. It was so obvious after the fact that it was embarrassing

It’s utterly absurd to even mention point shaving with this team

This is one of the dumbest things I’ve read on here. You think we are shaving points and are 22-2?

Mclemore takes the points spread.

Hey now, ya'll don't have to get personal!

I'm just saying, I've been placing bets on Auburn to win when we're down by 15. I doubt I'm the only one. And its not like we haven't had issues with this in the past.

We're actually pretty bad on defense like really bad. We have some guys that get after it especially when the game is on the line but overall baaaaaaaad

Not really. IIRC we were ranked in the 30’s for defensive efficiency before last night. We are now 56th, but that’s nowhere close to really bad

We are really bad defensively against teams with a really good AND quick point guard. There are only a couple of those in the SEC and not many nationally.

They stress our D in bad ways.

Didn't remember seeing you post on this board before. Scrolled through your post history, just out of curiousity.

Kinda interesting that this is your first post on AU athletics of any kind on any forum in over two years.

Would have to disagree considering we score what we do efficiency metric doesn't tell the tale of our defense.

We're about 200th in the nation in ppg allowed and allow opponents to shoot +41% per game. That's bad no matter how you slice it.

Also the reason we can't get separation from these teams. What's saving our arse right now is we're dominating the boards and getting to the line a lot.

Really have to question who we have as mods on this board.

A big factor in that is tempo. When you look at that stat it almost always correlates to tempo. Teams that slow the game down and limit possessions give up less points.

This isn’t awful. It puts us at 86 which is right there with Arkansas, who is one of the best defenses in the conference.

The defense doesn’t suck as a whole. Their only real weakness is defending the three. You’re making out as if we are one of the worst defenses in the country. I’m not claiming we are some juggernaut, but unless a team is one that can spread the floor with 4 or 5 legitimate three point shooters, then we are not a team they are licking their lips at. If you’re San Diego State though, you are absolutely hoping to face us later in the tourney.

Busted for making his first post on the AU board in over 2 years one comparing this year's squad to the point-shaving Barbee Boyz of 2012.

Seeing as how he follows AU basketball enough for this years team to 'remind' him of Varez Ward's shennanigans, it seems like he would've at least commented on our Final Four run last year.

Yeah, I *bet* you do.

If I’m remembering correctly he only recently got access to the board

He may be an alter, idk, but I wouldn’t make the call based on this
