It's lost. About 15-20% of Bitcoin is lost, more will be lost. This is considered a feature, not a bug, by the Bitcoin advocates as it can increase the value of the non-lost coins and future mined coins.
This is part of the beauty of "being your own bank" - some folks will make a mistake along the way and it benefits the others (until they too make a mistake).
Also increasingly you can be held at gunpoint or beaten into submission for your Bitcoin which can't happen with traditional bank transfers https://www.politico.eu/article/france-crypto-entrepreneur-extra-security-kidnapping-attempt/

Y'all gotta zoom out. It's a cyclical trend.

quote:
Yo-yos are regularly banned and frowned upon in school, especially elementary school. It goes in phases. Every few years a kid shows up with a yo-yo. If the kid is of low status then it’s the end, nothing to worry about. What if this kid is well liked though, someone who people want to be around? If a well-liked kid brings in a yo-yo to school then the next week you can expect 2-3 more kids to bring in a yo-yo. The week after that there will be 6 more kids with a yo-yo. Every week more kids will be bringing in yoyos until it gets out of hand that it needs to be banned. The secret to the yoyo becoming popular again is that the right kid needs to bring in a yo-yo the first day.

Dave Matthews Band with Hootie and the Blowfish would probably kill it with the audience in attendance.

I guess my understanding is lots of miners need to be running to process transactions. Maybe those miners are in South America or Europe or Asia while we have lost our power and are bartering in the USA.
And I'm thinking me and my barter friends are gonna need cellphones with towers working, and/or laptops or something and the towers are still connected to the underwater telecoms lines connecting the continents.
Just seems like a lot of infrastructure continuing to work like it does today when we're in a world of bartering and chaos.

I would hope everyone would see it as a massive ethical issue, but I think too many people are busy gargling Trump's old man balls to admit it.
This exactly. Hard to know if there's ever been a president who's balls have been gargled this much before, by the wealthiest elites on earth. Nothing close to this gargling in recent history in the US.
Impressive really.

Is there stable Internet and electricity and data centers full of miners in the barter world?

Used Chantix 15 years ago, was awful on my stomach and crazy crazy nightmares all night every night.

Twice at different companies I've had another job lined up, submitted my resignation, and been offered enough to stay on.
